I’d get motion sick trying to hit it. My buddy from high school threw what he called a knuckle curve, might have been akin to a circle change, looked easy to hit but wasn’t

Sophomore year I gambled on a curveball that was coming right at my head. It curved just enough to hit me in the jaw.

I had the exact same thing happen but it caught me right next to my right eye - I opened up juuust enough for it to miss my helmet and get my face. No masks in high school back then. I was out cold for a few seconds then they left me in the game.

Didn’t get me that bad. I went down, came back up, and went to first base. Back then there was no concussion protocol. I remember getting my bell rung playing hockey. I got laid right out! I skate back to the bench and went walking away from the bench. Seeing stars and bright lights, the coach asked what the year was and my name. I answered correctly and sat two shifts and back out. I remember it so I’d guess it wasn’t bad, but that hit was hard!

DON’T SKATE WITH THE PUCK AND YOUR HEAD DOWN! No bueno! ?

Whiskey gingers tonight.... 2 oz Jameson, 5.5 oz Canada dry and juice of a lime wedge in a glass full of ice. 3 of those while watching Top Gun Maverick. Not a bad Saturday night.

Happened to stop by Total Wine & More in Reno while in town for my daughter's western region volleyball tournament. They had a few things opened up for samples, and while they were all good this one impressed me the most.

Cool looking bottle...I've never tried any Barton products but maybe should. Pricey?

Edit: I lied I've got a bottle of 1792 small batch, that's a Barton product

1792 is solid as well and I almost pulled the trigger on their full proof version prior to seeing the guy pouring samples. This Chestnut bottle was in the $60 neighborhood (90 proof), but the bottled in bond 100 proof allegedly from the same barrels was nearly twice as much and only marginally better. It was a very easy decision to go with the 90.

I usually like bourbon neat, but that one is my favorite to have over ice. It sounds like it's readily available most places but took me a long time to get it in my neck of the woods.

Paper plane, very easy to sip.

Gonna have something tonight...deciding between a neat pour of Michters Rye or a gin and tonic.

Summerfest is back from Sierra Nevada after a brief hiatus, great beer.

Listened to the Mets on my old transistor radio while doing some yard work, beer eased the pain of listening to the Mets.

While I was grocery shopping today I happened upon these 2 clearance 6 packs which were only $5.00 apiece. Really enjoyed the Samuel Smith and I’m hoping the 2nd 6 pack will still be available tomorrow. As for the Saugatuck it was as if they started with a sour ale which is something I do not enjoy and felt it overpowered the vanilla and coffee, but hey I’m only out $5.00 so there is that?F826B2AE-573D-4C61-8FC3-2189579A27CA.thumb.jpeg.2171dbf94229414944137f134a137571.jpeg205B2920-4EE7-469D-A1F8-76B5455FFFB7.thumb.jpeg.f6c8121f523b801573c9e0a4f516f38b.jpeg

I wish they would bring back their Tumbler autumn ale too. I really miss that one.

Myself and my co-workers just signed a very fair to us 5 year contract on April 29th. Although I was rewarded last Friday with the increase today is the day I’m celebrating ?  7BAF0E66-410A-4AE4-AACF-7D491341F230.thumb.jpeg.b472cf5ca31ae3ced25265c32e243c30.jpeg

So I haven't been drinking much but the bait monkey has really taken a hold of me in the form of the whiskey monkey. In the past week I've bought a bottle of Woodford reserve rye, Evan Williams BIB, mellow corn and wild turkey 101. Granted all these together only ran me a little over $100...still hard to explain to the old lady why your carrying in a bottle of whiskey every other day! Just building my collection.

You made some pretty good choices there.  I'm a rye drinker and if someone tells me they really want to learn to drink rye, the Woodford is the very first one I suggest.  It's a 51% mashbill so it's just enough to be able to call itself a rye and it retains that mellow, caramel palate.  We keep a 1.5L of the WT101 under the counter to mix with Coke Zero.

If you like the Woodford Rye and want to try another rye, look for Old Forester Rye 100.  You should be able to find it for $25-$30 dollars and it's the best rye at that price point IMDO (In My Drunken Opinion).
