what is you favorite power/action for a bass spinning rod?

Depends on the technique. I really like medium light fast for ned and grubs. For light texas rigs, shaky heads and Slip shot rigs I like medium fast. I don't go heavier than that because that's baitcaster territory for me. If I had to choose if say medium fast...rather be overgunned than undergunned.

When I'm fishing spinning setups, I'm fishing lighter baits. Because of this my favorite is a fast/extra fast ML rod, 8-15lb braid to leader.

My favorite spinning rod is my tatula 7’ m fast.

Medium heavy fast action is the ticket.

ML+/MF-F

 

It won't be labeled like this. You know it when you have it.

ML-XF or M-XF for my style of finesse fishing. 6'8"-6'10" is my ideal length. 

As a supplement to casting tackle, I lean more towards ML/F lately. As an everyday all purpose rod I’d step up to a Medium.

I use medium heavy and heavy action rods for most of my bass fishing.

I use both a ml/f and a M/f. I prefer the m/f for most situations.

Favorite depends on the application

 

Ned rig and Hair jigs- lite action;  I use a DX741SF Dobyns Rod

1/2 oz cracking tubes- medium action;  I use a DC763SF Dobyns Rod

 

Everything else I use a medium lite action rod;  DC792F for swimbaits, DX742SF for dropshot, and a DC702SF for everything else from shakey to Neko to lighter tubes to spybaits to blade baits.

 

But to answer the question, my favorite action is a medium lite spinning rod.  If it wasn't for cracking tubes I wouldn't even own a medium action spinning rod.  I'd just use a baitcaster instead of a medium action spinning rod.  

As important to me as power and action is, I think length is equally as important.  In fact I think length of rod has an impact on action and power.  My two favorite setups are 7'4" Medium Power Fast Action  (Dobyns Xtasy, just the best tube and paddle tail swimbait rod) and 7'6" Medium Light Power Fast Action  (Daiwa Tatula Elite AGS/Daiwa Cronos Stinger Tip, both great a neds, hair, deep water drop shot, wacky rigs/neko rigs).

 

The added length helps you play fish on lighter line, especially those fish that surge at the boat.   

ML or M with a fast action for spinning rods for bass.  Anything heavier and I'll use casting gear.  It really is that simple.

Power and action can be measured, with CCS, and can be objective, not subjective.   Preferences for different powers or actions are subjective.  Length is objective, easily measured.  Preferences for length are subjective.  But the length of the rod does not have an impact on action and power.  Any length of rod can have any power and any action.  This does not mean I disagree with your preferences, but just the second sentence.

M/F is more universal but I have a ML/XF in my hands 90% of the time. I don’t throw ned rigs or hair jigs (1/16 oz up to 1/8 oz) on a M/F, it’s just way more comfortable on a ML. Then again, 1/8 oz ned rig and a 1/8 oz shakeyhead are not the same. I think the cut off for me is at 1/4 oz. that’s when I start bringing out the M/F. I also throw senkos and poppers on my M/F but I can easily do that on a casting MH/F. Same with stroking a tube. I usually opt for 3/8 oz and sometimes 1/2 oz. sure, I do it on a spinning M/F but if I really wanted to it could easily be done on a casting MH/F. That’s why I think a ML spinning rod is more useful for someone with only a few setups. 

I have a ml/f and a m/xf it seems to cover all my needs for the river and creeks I fish pretty well

If I had to choose one - it'd be the M/F as best all-around.
