Not sure how you're doing in Michigan, but back at the mother land it's been in the 40's. I'm little concerned that our winter is going to get extended once again into spring delaying my start date to be on the water. Hopefully that doesn't happen to you.

    Yup it’s January in Michigan!

67 here in the middle of the mitten, with a nice warm breeze from the SW. That big heat lamp in the sky isn’t out as much as I’d like, but I’ll take it. The channel that feeds my lake is open now and

The main part of the lake is OPEN! Our part and the route to the main part is blocked. We’re making progress. I saw another lake that was completely open and others over 50% open.

It’s 40 and cloudy here in Michigan. Not much snow left on the ground either, there’s none south of Grand Rapids from what I’ve seen. Rain snow mix tomorrow and almost 40 again.

I hope winter doesn’t go on and on either. Two winters ago we barely had a trace of snow at this time. Then the end of January the winter flood gates opened and it went on for what seemed like forever. Winter can’t last too long. I will have some new toys that require open water!

If you think it is hard on you guys, I bought my boat 4 days before our bay froze over.  Haven't owned a fishing rig in 9 years.  Going completely nuts.  Made worse that it is cold and not enough snow to rip around on snowmobiles.

Oh I know that feeling well and open water can’t come soon enough

Old guy? If you and him were more than 2 years apart, I'd be surprised.

@A-Jay and I are 2 months apart - we got about 8 years on KVD...he's a 'kid'.

Congrats on the new rig. Assuming it's NOT the one in your avatar pic...or is it?

So you're saying @A-Jay should be referring to KVD as the young whipper snapper instead of old guy?

Oh my goodness, we got blasted with 1/4" of snow last night.

Still waiting for the other shoe to drop on this winter.

I hope  you have enough bread and milk to make it through.

Still no sign of an arctic front here in the forecast. I see a couple nights where it may dip to near zero but there’s also a day of almost 40. Ice shacks and trucks are going through the ice here at record pace too. People just assume that the ice is thick and strong in mid January here.

I usually can tell when it's the middle of January.

That's right about the time that the voices in my head start a chat group.

I know they're not real, problem is

sometimes their ideas are absolutely awesome.

In fact you may have seen one or two of their 'ideas' here already . . . .

You look different in real life than you do in your avatar pic.

That’s the difference between 33* and 15*! Doesn’t seem like much in the grand scheme thing of things but that little bit of temps makes a huge difference!

4-8" headed here tonight. Should be double that by you when it gains moisture from the big pond.
