What is a bait or rig that has produced for you but you rarely throw? For me its a light Texas rig on spinning gear with 8lb mono. Im talking primarily a 1/8oz weight, a small bead, a 1\0 or 2\0 hook and a baby pit boss or 4.5 inch finesse worm-bottom hopper or roboworm. This rig has caught me fish in 36 degree water and 90 degree water...when I couldn't even get a sniff on Ned! For some reason I rarely think to throw it...which is a shame.

Wal mart pre-made shad swim baits. Catch fish every time I throw them but I rarely do.  Not sure why...to either...?‍♂️

Tailspinners. Mann's Little George and similar baits. I used to catch fish on them, but quit throwing them years ago.

Worden's Roostertails. I have a whole 3700 box of them, but  I got so disgusted with the blankety-blank things not wanting to start spinning (or in some cases, stay spinning) that I don't use them anymore.  Pity. They caught fish.                 jj

That

A Fluke. I don't believe I threw one at all last season, even though they have always produced.

Whooper Plopper, works but prefer buzzers, walking and popper top water lures.

A grub, plain and simple.  I used to throw a grub and even pitch them like a finesse bait in medium vegetation.  I’ve got to get back to that deal. Thanks for bringing the topic up!

I can’t think of any bait that I decide not to use if I remember what and where I used it and it produced.

Old Mepps spinners. And Panther Martin spinners. Parents had a cabin on Platte River...sandpit lake in the area...used to grab my fishing pole, tackle box and ride my bike back to the lake...would fish all day catching crappie and small bass. Good times!

I have a few laying around for ya.  Hardly ever used, guaranteed not to catch any fish.

A weightless fluke.

I love fishing them butI think I unconsciously avoid them now so I don’t confront the awful truth which os that I could probably catch  75% of the bass I do with just a weightless Zoom Super, rendering most of my tackle hoard pretty superfluous.

Hmmmm.  Do you mean the little ones from manufacturers like Renosky and Creme?

I have a small pile of those and was debating what to do with them...

Beetle Spin

Yes Creme. 1/4oz. Lol I have 100% success so far over years and I barely ever use them. It’s a “shrug” bait to me. Even though they have never failed me.  Course now I jinxed it and I’m doomed.

I forgot about them for a long time but fished them a lot last year .They produced some nice fish . I found some old stock large sized Beetles without the spinner at a mom and pop tackle store , added some spinners , put on a baitcaster and used them quite a bit .
