To make a long story short, a T Rig is a confidence rig for me and ive been throwing all sorts of new to me stuff trying to find the next greatest thing. Well I'm tired of not catching bass so I'm going to stick with the good ol Texas rig on one setup. 

 

Are tungsten bullet weights worth the money? I know they are smaller compared with the same weight of lead and transmit vibration more because they are harder or more dense than lead. Is it worth $6 for a three pack? Like does it really make any difference or just a personal preference?

Tungsten are 100% a better alternative to lead weights. Much more sensitive and you'll be able to feel bites and the bottom context more. 

Hundreds of thousands of bass have been caught by anglers using lead bullet weights so they work. The bullet weight let’s the line run through you feel the strike.

Tungsten is necessary in some states with no lead laws.

I like painted brass bullet weights with glass bead that are hard but larger then lead. Tungsten being smaller and hard started off having major problems with sharp edges cutting line. Tungsten works well, just $$.

Siebert has good prices on tungsten. Definitely worth it for the size and sensitivity. 

For quarter ounce or bigger I like tungsten .   Smaller weights its a waste of money for me .

You can get good Tungsten 3/16 for a little more then a 1$ per weight, 1/4 is about 5$ for 4 and I think its more then worth it.  Especially if you pay a few hundred for a sensitive rod, you may as well get the most out of it.

6 bucks for three weights? Frack no.

Yeah man if you want some extra sensitivity and smaller profile, go for it.  I believe @WRB  is right about the brass n glass combo. Have yet to try it myself, I have some by top brass but havent gotten around to throwing it. I will say that another older gentlemen who is somewhat mentoring me in fishing also mentioned brass n glass to me and touts its advantages. Take a look into it.

The brass weight should be painted.

I don't even think I have any lead bullet weights anymore. Basically anything lead can do, tungsten does better. Order from Siebert, Beast Coast, or direct from China (if you're more patient than me). Most places charge an arm and a leg but those don't.

Tungsten is not "sensitive"!

 

Yeah I said it, get over it!

 

When tungsten comes in contact with something hard it transmits a "crisper" feel but when it contacts something soft it's just as dead as lead.

 

You do not feel bites any better because a bass can still inhale your weight & worm while you feel nuttin. 

 

Being a worm dragger you understand what you're feeling when a bass picks up your t-rig is not the weight. 

 

Is tungsten worth it? Completely personal preference!

Put one on a broken spinner bait wire.

Put a torch too it till it glows red.

Carefully drop it in a bucket of water to cool down.

Turns them a charcoal gray/black/slightly dark blue.

Do this with plenty of ventilation in the garage.

 

Now you don’t ever have to worry about them banging together and the paint chipping. Because it will. Painted Tungsten is a waste of money. Ask me how I know.

How do you know

I bought some SK tungsten weights to try. I can't honestly say they were better than lead. Mine are 1/8 oz. As others have said, the heavier ones may be more sensitive, but for me they're not worth the cost. Lead bullet weights have been working for me for a long time, so Im staying with them for now.
