Introduction from TN

Featured Replies

Good evening.  Short time lurker and figured I would introduce myself.  My name is Jake Carpenter and I reside in TN, but originally from central NY.  Retired Army (20 years) and currently working on my second career as a Department of Army Civilian (DAC).

Aside from the occasional bass pond fishing trips with my Dad growing up, and lake trips on my uncles boat for trout, I am brand new to the hobby.  Was primarily into the car scene, but after a fishing trip to Florida (salt water) on my brothers boat this past spring I decided on a change in hobby's.  Bought a new Xpress bass boat along with the appropriate gear, tackle.....more tackle....and more tackle....and...well you get the picture.  Been doing a lot of reading and You Tube, and I must say it is firehose of information out there when it comes to bass fishing.  It is going to take a considerably amount of time in becoming a fairly proficient fisherman.  I got skunked my first few times out, with the summer doldrums not helping.  Since I was struggling a few weeks ago I hired and went out with a local guide, which has since helped, but still have a long way to go in terms of using electronics, using the right rod/reel combo, along with the right bait to complement lake and weather conditions.  I'll get there eventually and this forum will help in that process, along with other social media information platforms.

I initially fished the lower part of KY Lake, but have been out on Old Hickory Lake and Percy Priest, with Percy Priest being my current lake of choice.

Look forward into chatting with you all.

Welcome Jake...There is literally (no pun intended) a sea of knowledge here.

Welcome!  Thank you for your service.

I’ve re-entered the sport myself, after a nearly 30-year hiatus.  “Tackle… more tackle… and more tackle” and skunked outings is something I can definitely relate to. ?  It’s a lot of fun to keep making progress though.
