New PB!

Caught my PB Tuesday 10/05/21! It was 11am on a private pond in central WV, 70° with overcast skies. I only brought a 7ft medium heavy fast action Kastking Crixus rod with a Kastking Crixus 7.2:1 baitcaster. Spent the first hour and a half throwing a Super Spook with no luck. Decided to tie on a green pumpkin Arkie Jig with green/chart BBB Yomama trailer. Popped it off the bottom a few times and he thumped it on the fall. As soon as I set the hook I knew it was the biggest bass I have ever hooked. Ive only spent this past year bass fishing and I mostly bring in bass 1-1.5 pounds (estimated). Just bought a scale before this outing. Im used to just wrenching little bass in like its nothing. This one fought me the whole way in. It was a fun battle but alas, I got her on the bank. She weighed 3 lbs 0 oz and she was 18 inches long! For a lot of you anglers out there, that might be average, but for me, I am still riding that high! I am considering this my first PB Now im excited for my next PB!IMG_29331.thumb.jpg.734b0d1c49eab0a7f94b2ea2d44357cf.jpgIMG_29361.jpg.4ce09b10f2e051c33b2686a3b1c30864.jpg

Good un! Congrats on the new PB. The ol' jig is a deadly weapon!

The ol' jig is becoming my favorite tbh. I've caught more on jigs and ned rigs than anything else since I've started fishing this year. Not as exciting as topwater but more reliable for me. Im skunked on moving baits (cranks, jerks, swimbaits,) so far. Either I dont have the feel for them yet or the proper equipment... or both.

I'd be plenty excited about a 3 lb fish.  Congrats.

PB's are always sweet, congrats.

Grats! A new PB is always exciting, no matter how big or small. And remember while not a giant, that 3lb keeps your interest and turns into a 4lb later on, then 5lb and so on. Hardly anyone catches a giant their first time out!

That is awesome! Congrats. They only get bigger from this point forward, lol.

Just a couple of things:

1) You might need some sandwich bread and jelly or jam to go along with your PB. ?

2) If you have the time, take a picture of your bass holding it in two hands (one hand under the belly) with the bass’ head or tail lined up with one of your shoulders. It can give a fair perspective on the bass’ true size lengthwise. It also makes for a nice photo.

Congratulations man!  Bass fishing is such a fun challenge.  I don't regret a single minute of my life I spent fishing and I am glad to see someone that also really loves it!

Nice one!!! Congrats!

Congrats

Congrats on the PB! No need to downplay the size, I don't know any bass angler that would turn their nose up to a three pounder, very fun fight at that size. ? Any time a personal best is broken is a time to be proud, IMO.
