26 degrees, sunny blue skies, water clarity and level just about perfect. The river has finally settled after over a month of incessant rain from unseasonable temps and a delayed winter onset. 

 

Icy guides make it tough to feel the soft winter bite, but patience and persistence rewarded me today with this winter prize. Got her on the pb&j TRD, no board but if I had to guess just a hair under 18. My first season of winter fishing has been humbling to say the least, but days like today make it worth it and get me pumped for spring.

Glad you’re still after em!! They’ve been biting like sharks this winter for us

Yes and some tributary highland reservoirs also. They are pictured in the “latest catch pics thread”

 

some of our smaller streams are pretty well frozen but the Highland Reservoir‘s are still about 50° water temperature

Great fish, congrats.

Great fish.  It doesn't get much better than a big winter smallmouth.

Not a monster but not bad for a freezing cold day on Nickajack. Also caught on a Ned rig. Wind blew me off the water. I'm ready for Spring!

Up here in my area I'm not legally allowed to fish for bass till mid June!
