For your white ,  or chartreuse / white willow leaf spinner baits - what are your favorite blade colors : Nickle / Nickle  or  Gold / Nickle ?

I'm always leaning to gold over nickel, but in clear water with more sun than clouds, I break out the silver, specially when imitating shad. A tandem with a gold Colorado and nickel willow or vise versa depending on the conditions are good too.

Double gold willowleaf or silver Colorado in front of a gold willowleaf 

This has been working for me lately.

 

If it's going to be a random day on a random body of water, double nickel for me, for sure.

 

When the water is off-colored or its an overcast day I also like a gold frame with two gold blades. 

Gold silver.  White Chartreuse.  White Orange.  White White.  Chartreuse Chartreuse.     

Typically, use gold/nickel and chartreuse or white/chartreuse in slightly stained water, dual nickel and white in clear. If I only had to have one, I would definitely pick dual nickel & white but most of our water is clear most of the time too.

 

 

 

 

Man it seems like once a spinnerbait thread is posted, others spring up everywhere. I love it. Uh I don’t have a favorite. If I’m throwing a bluegill imitator, gold over copper is cool. I like mixing white with silver. I will say that typically, I like the blade colors of my front and rear blades to match if we are talking silver and gold. I like double silver for clear water and shad colored spinnerbaits, and I like double gold when there is some chartreuse in the skirt or fishing some more stained water. How much of this is just personal preference…. I have no idea.

I should have stated : I fish clear water highland reservoirs with predominantly threadfin shad for baitfish . The Gold / Nickle willow leaf combo is more of  a cloudy conditions combo but might be ok in sunny conditions as well  , while the Nickle /Nickle willow leaf combo is more of sunny conditions combo  I would think ?

Both will work whenever. When you begin to fish spinnerbaits a lot you will start to develop preferences. A gold blade and nickel blade reflecting light will both look and feel like a fleeing baitfish to a bass. 

 

I don't know how big threadfin get but you may want to experiment with different size spinnerbaits rather than the color of the blades. Try not to overthink it. I use the screaming Eagle's because they have relatively smaller blades compared to others on the market, and that reflects the baitfish my bass feed on as well as making the spinnerbait easier to burn. I've been critical of TacticalBassin before but they have a few good videos explaining spinnerbait choice. Give those a watch to see what's out there.

For chartreuse spinnerbaits, either chartreuse or nickel blades have always been productive for me.

Not sure if there's a color made I don't use.
