Hello everyone, I've been lurking a while and I am very happy to be joining this community. Supportive, friendly, and a lot of knowledge shared make this site look like a daily visit for sure.

I'm an old guy and have been fishing all my life but have only started targeting bass a couple years ago and have a lot to learn. Last summer I was targeting and catching mostly smallmouth bass. They really tickle my fancy and I'm eager for more.

Sometimes I fly fish, although last year was mostly light spinning finesse type.   Ned rigs wacky worm and small paddletail swimjigs were my main baits along with jerkbaits on a little heavier rod. Although the wacky worm accounted for some of my best days, I still don;t  like to fish that way and don't feel I'm any good at it. I will continue to work on that technique, also next summer I might bring the fly rod along for some surface bait duty. Thanks for the opportunity to join, see ya on the flip side.

Where in Wisconsin, Bloom? I lived in half a dozen towns there, mostly the driftless southwest and Eau Claire. Also, where are you catching smallmouth?

Hi from the Sunshine State of Fl.

I started out trout fishing, then I started salt water, snook, reds. I moved again and got hooked on small mouth, now I’m in Florida and Largemouth fishing.
I think we all go through the fishing phase of different types.

olcrickety; Hayward Wisconsin a little bit north of Eau Claire. I've lived here all my life and mostly fished walleye and musky.  I live close to Grindstone, Lac Court Oreilles, Round, and the Chippewa Flowage, all very good smallmouth lakes,  last year I did my best on a smaller nearby lake named Windigo.

GRiver;I have had some fun times fishing in FL. Variety is the spice of life and you sure have a variety at your fingertips.

Welcome to the form from you slightly southern neighbor! You definitely live in a good area to target those brown fish, but don't overlook the green bass opportunities around there either! Definitely one of my favorite areas to fish!

Serves ya right @Steveo-1969 that's a big no no up here! ? Tough to be accepted if you don't bleed green and gold and ooze cheese. I suppose we can make an exception for you though since you do at least like bass fishing.

Hayward? Holy smokes! For those who don't know Hayward, it's Fish City, U.S.A.

I grew up in WI, but never fished Hayward. I may need to head that way this summer. It's a long haul from TX, but now that I'm retired I try to go up north every summer.

Welcome to BR. Sounds like your a multi-species angler much like big Al. Especially coming from the musky capitol excluding Boulder Junction.

It's a long haul, but it's a cool area to visit. Plan on staying for a while with the number of good lakes around the area you'll want to do a little exploring.
