Right now for me it's the 13 Fishing Jabberjaw. Haven't thrown it a ton, but zero interest from fish when I do. Tried various retrieves and nothing yet. Seen other guys killing it on it so I'll keep it in the rotation for now and try to figure it out.

I have yet to catch a bass on a Jackhammer. To be fair, I haven't fished it a lot yet, but I have tossed it at several ponds and bogs and caught nothing. I don't want to quit on it yet. 

 

I've never done well with a Jitterbug. I've thrown them in ponds brimming with bass and have caught a few, but my few hookups don't justify my continuing to throw it.

Bellows gill, I just don't get what I am supposed to do.

And surprisingly the whopper plopper. Zero success.

Thinking the shimano world crank 73F is a size and depth that works for my water.  Did it ever end up producing?  Any additional thoughts?

Nope. I still haven't caught a fish on it. Most other Shimano baits have been fine. I have done pretty well on the World Minnow and the World Pop but the Macbeth has been the best of the bunch.

I haven't mustered the courage to cast an A-Rig yet. It looks so awkward.

I have caught tons of fish on your first three.

 

An A-rig has out caught a spinnerbait for me. I just chuck it out there, wind, stop and boom, fish on.  

 

The Deps Bull Flat is also an easy bait. I fish it on a free rig and as a jig trailer. I just scoot it across the bottom. Nothing magical. I have caught fish in both deep and shallow water with it and in both lakes and ponds. 

 

The Yamatanuki is just a big hunk of plastic that you let sit. The fish just slam it when it sitting still or scooted slowly. I don't get it but it works. 

Whopper (3 different kids 3 different manufacturers) fished them to death got zilch then toss a Rebel Pop-R through same area slam the bass.

Jigs. Invested $300+ in jigs and jig trailers in late 2023 early 2024 only to discover the bottom of every lake under 90 minuets drive from my home is 100% weed bottom and impossible to fish a jig in. 

Probably 80 percent of the baits in my tackle room fall into this category, unfortunately.

 

But I have since learned not to be so susceptible to hype.

Another case of one man's garbage is another's treasure. I modify the ones I use adding belly and tail trebles and removing the ones it comes with. Great bass, pike and muskie bait. I caught two muskie  last July over 40in. on one while there was a muskie tournament going on.

I believe it was Heddon that came out with  a buzz plug that Bill Dance promoted. I bought four and when they didn't produce, I pulled the blades and tossed 'em.

Megabass x nanahan. The action is cool but they needed constant tuning to run straight and they never out performed my pointer 65s. For the price I was not impressed with the hooks and even had a half pound smallie break one of the points off. 

Glide baits.....Probably because they require patience and I tend to get bored throwing a lure or bait for a long time if not getting strikes. Same with all the big hard bodies swimbaits.

 

I also never throw the Whopper Ploppers, I am sure the smaller sizes would work better but personally have more confidence in a topwater prop bait. 

 

Not into the huge swimbaits. My nephew loves to throw giant swimbaits up North in Ct. and he will cast em all day for one or two strikes....but, the fish he catches tend to all be big. 

 

I basically keep my fishing pretty simple. My tackle arsenal is ridiculous since I only use 10% of it.

The worst bait in over 20 years of fishing is something i purchased last year. The Freedom Mischief Minnow. I can't believe this garbage made to market.

It's so bad that i'd prefer using a Googan rod, Googan reel, and Googan line, over fishing with that Mischief Minnow.
