Hello everyone, 

While the love for the Megastrike cavitron buzzbait in this forum is well documented, they are reported as out of stock everywhere (black of course). Lets just say you're in a buzzbait emergency and there are no Cavitrons with you. 

 

What would you pick? 

 

thank you everyone, I'm currently on a buzzbait emergency as a pike took the last one (one more reason to hate them!). 

Jamaica Boa?  

Damiki MTB Noisy Buzzbait. I really like the clacker on it and I have done very well with it.

P.S. At the risk of  getting flamed, I like it better then the Cavitron.

Oh I hate it when that happens.  Profanity often follows.  Its funny when it happens to someone else, but it aint funny when it happens to you lol

Interesting, didn't know megabass made buzzbaits. At first I thought you were joking.. were do get those names from!!! are the 1/2 very large??

i like the boa because with a quick tweak i can make it not clack on that bead. 

 

i left mine on my friends bassboat and he swears he bought it.  hahah..i pick my battles.

Better him than a pike.. if your friend paid for gas don't fight it to much..

That's not an emergency, though in a real one, I’d buy a Cavitron if available - lol. In production models, I’m a fan of the Accent ‘Jacob Wheeler’ buzzbait - while admitting my personal bias in this situation ?  I personally prefer the finesse over the ‘original’ due to its smaller blade, but either are good depending on your preference.

Picasso buzzers, several models to choose from, they all work.

are you Jacob Wheeler in disguise? 

 

The D&M Easy Roller works well for me. I used to use the Strike King Banshee buzzers from Dicks, but I stopped shopping there a while ago. Both are fantastic options. I like the Easy Roller because it’s relatively quiet (though it still squeals a bit), planes immediately, and fishes slowly. 
 

If you do decide to go with the D&M, trailer hooks are a near necessity. Maybe it’s just because of how slow the bait fishes, but the fish short strike the snot out of it. It does get bites though, and big ones at that.

I‘m probably going to get flamed on this as @Fishingmickey said, and I know they’re not the best….

I get mine at Walmart for a dollar, spinner baits too. You might have to tweak them, you can even take them apart and put beads or whatever on them. They don’t have the clacker on them, but they do catch fish.

At $1.00 ea you can buy a few of them in different colors compared to the others.  I do find I’ll cast in more places and take more chances than expensive buzz baits or spinner baits.
They might just do ya for now until you can get the one you want. 

I don’t really like Cavitrons. Why pay for a buzzbait with a thin wire when there is literally no need for it? 
 

i used to take the Cavitron blade off a Cavitron and put it on other buzzbaits.

 

Nowadays I don’t sweat it too much and just pick one with a good pointed head, a thick wire, a good hook, and the ability to flex the wire so it bangs into the head. I prefer that style of buzzbaits as opposed to the “slow-rollers”

The next best thing if you can’t talk to him personally  ? He called me for input into its design based on a local custom buzzer my buddy and I used and had shown to him back when the three of us all fished together.

My standard buzzbait is the swinging sugar buzz from string king. It’s the only one I throw really. 

I use the war eagle buzz bait almost exclusively

Megabass Jamaica Boa, 1st and 2nd.

Another vote for boogerman buzzbaits, the megabass Jamaica boa has issues with the clacker bead braking off.

 

 

I love the hook up ratio of an inline buzzer and the way they come through light vegetation without bringing some of it back to you.  MegaChomp offers a single blade, but the heaviest they offer is 3/8oz.  Their double bladed one comes in a 1/2oz. and both will give off a ton of noise if you rough up the rivet (it's already crimped).

I still throw a Hart and a Cavitron because it gets some awesome blow ups.

The Accent Jacob Wheeler Finesse and the Crock-O-Gator are my second and third favorite buzzbaits. The Jamacia Boa is an interesting design and I've used it with some luck, but I honestly prefer a smaller profile buzzbait, so I would rank it fourth on my list. 

Crock O Gator. And pick up a bag of the toads that are designed to be used with it.

True South Buzzbaits

I like mine best.

My second buzzbait choice is a Stanley Ribbit. It can be fished effectively in open water & when confronted with grass I just keep chunking.
