I have a bunch of spinners and other lures that are still good but the metal is getting dull or tarnished. Do you pollish your blades? Im thinking of getting some pollish and a rag and going at it. Any certain kind to get for this? liquid, paste, or? Thanks

Toothpaste & H2O will work if they are not too badly tarnished.

just a rough dish scrubbie (like a scotchbrite) should do it.  I don't mess with mine most of the time but if I pull out an old one that's been in storage I might do that.

Yes do it; it works!

I use  brasso . A lot of times I use a tarnished blade ,especially around bream beds . The flash is muted. Dont know if it makes a difference or not but bluegills dont flash .

I’ve never used it on my bass lure blades. Why? I don’t know. But I’ve been doing it to blades on my trout lures for years. I had heard of the tooth paste trick moons ago but I use Scotch Brite. 

I’ve tried a few times using a metal polish paste I have, not enough difference for me to say it did anything but give it a try with whatever you have.

I've used Brasso in the past with very good results. Rinse them with warm water afterwards.

5 minutes in ketchup 

wipe with paper towel 

I’ll clean them if they only have light surface rust if I forget to wipe them down. 
Been using toothpaste for 20+ yrs and works up to a certain point. 
 

Any worse for trebles then I’ll just replace them

I haven't done any polishing other than just normal cleanup. I wonder if a mirror polish would give me an edge? I have polishing wheels and compound to do so. I may just give it a go on my favorite spinnerbait.

For some strange reason I have always associated "Red Sox" with red.

It's related to the 2018 championship season.

The club introduced its City Connect jerseys in 2021, with Sox players donning the yellow-and-blue kits for the first time on April 17 of that year to commemorate and celebrate Patriots Day in Boston.

I use a polish called Flitz to polish blades on spinnerbaits. I also use it on rods between the guides. 

 

I found a G Loomis rod with a Stella reel floating in the lake a year ago. The rod and reel were probably ten years old (at least) so I don't know if the oxidation on the rod was from being in the water for a while, or just from being old, but using the Flitz on the rod and some very fine sandpaper on the cork, it looks like a well taken care of rod.

Get yourself some fine steel wool.  Makes blades look like new.

Jewelry wipes are what I use.
