Sub surface walk the dog baits

In musky fishing these are very popular. Basically think of a top water spook like bait but, runs 1-5 foot down.  In musky fishing they are glide baits. Rapala makes the x rap sun walk. I have not seen any other bait companies with one on the bass side. Does anyone else use these for bass? Is there others available on the market then this one?

IMHO every single big swimbait is a natural walk the dog subsurface bait. It’s the normal swimming action of a baitfish.

Count Down Rapala

Most “Jerk” baits will walk.

R2Sea S Waver 120 &168 and ICMB*

* underwater dog walking lure.

While I don't think this is a bait you were talking about, I have been using a plastic "poop" bait that's designed to walk sub surface. It's called the OSP Spinnuts. I'm using the smallest size because I'm fishing UL. But I've been having fun fishing it.

There's a very small learning curve to figure out the appropriate rod movements to get the bait to walk, but once you do it's effective. Pretty versatile too. You can walk it near the bottom or further up the water column. But most of all, it feels a bit new and fun when I fish it. Also..I have no idea why these work so well..but they do.

Also don’t forget about soft jerkbaits. That’s my favorite way to fish them. Less than a foot under the water and fished fast. After checking a bunch this summer I’ve settled on the dshad per @TOXIC’s recco as the best for what I want.

These are great baits! I used to use a ton, but for some reason I haven't for a while. Going to start again.

IMG_5891.webp.bec921344dee2ce4e6c9b27764bab89d.webpthis is a glide bait in the Musky world. A walk the dog sub surface that shimmies on the fall. I was looking for something similar. The sub-walk by rapala is the closest I know of. I was wonder f if anyone knew of anything else.  @Darth-Baiter

Rapala X-Rap Sub Walk. @A-Jay has regaled us in the past with success stories using this bait.

Those baits are next to worthless.

Send then directly to me for proper disposal.

Do not pass Go, do not collect $200.
