First Jig Fish & PB

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

Caught my first jig fish tonight and it also happened to be my PB. I didn't have a scale but I think it was between 4-5lbs. I know for most people that isn't huge but I was super excited. Don't have any fishing friends and wanted somewhere to share my catch. The feeling of the jig bite was so much better than getting bit on a moving bait! It was a 1/4OZ keitech finesse football with a 3" hazedong shad as trailer btw. That combination happened to be pure luck because it is all I had left in my bag. Also just want to say I usually don't let fish touch the ground and get them back in the water as fast as possible but I really wanted a picture of this one as a reference.

Nothing like catching a good fish on a lure to give you confidence in it.  Jigs can catch big fish.

Awesome fish! Welcome to the jigging side. Jigging is a way of life for some of us. Not that we don’t use other stuff but, some kind of soft plastic on a jig head seems to be what we use most.

Congratulations @Firstoutfisher

Nice fish, you, I seen a lot of fall leaves on the ground, what the temp there now?   Were you swimming the jig, or bouncing on bottom?

Congrats on the new PB.

Congrats! I love a good jig bite, one of my favorite lures!

Water temp was right around 60 degrees. It was in the 80s all last week and water was crystal clear. We got hit by a cold snap and water visibility was less than 1'. I let it hit bottom, dragged it then hopped it over cover whenever I hit it.

Good job, my man! Now you have a ton of fishing friends-people that are downright fanatical about it, actually. I'm the same about sharing my good catches here. Not many people I know really care.

I'm a firm believer that if you can get a bait in front of a big gal she'll bite more often than not. I think bait selection is secondary to other factors. The trick is getting it presented to the right fish.

That would make nearly all of us super-excited and if it didn't, I pity that angler. Those four-to-five pounders are strong!

Nice Congrats

Nice looking bass, congratulations!

Great job! My favorite bait from ice-out to spawn is a jig & craw or Rage Bug trailer. Give it a shot when the gals are fat & chewing early in the year. You shouldn’t be disappointed. 🤘

Excellent. That jig bite feeling, is super addictive so be careful.
