Ain’t the Canadian market grand?? :)

Agreed! I'm in Ontario and they are $540 up here, our dollar SUCKS lol

I would give my pecker away to be able to fish with the next level up, but as you know the GLX's are $800+ up here :(

Yep,  I am in Ontario as well. Couple hours north of Toronto.   Local shop cuts me a bit of a deal but still $500 range for IMX pros.  Slippery slope once you have one IMX it’s hard to go back down.   I have fished GLX of friends but don’t own one.  On a spinning rod in particular they are unreal.   But I haven’t been able to get my mind around $800 either.  I’m happy with my IMX pros and a pecker

Just picked up a brand new Curado 50E and a new Citica 200E reel.  I'm a sucker for the E series of reels.....

I replaced the smaller factory knobs w/ the larger Shimano 10SSM knobs.

I have Academy and BassPro gift cards to use, but I ordered some Siebert Fogy bladed jigs yesterday. Now I have to think about what to get with those gift cards. The list is long lol.

I've been waiting for one of these to show up in my local DSG, I don't trust them to ship rods and wanted to fondle it a little. $80 for a full cork light froggy rod, feels really nice in hand for the price. Now I probably need another Tatula 100.

First cast with a scum frog popper and the blank snapped in half just above the 4th guide lol. I'll chalk it up to manufacturing defect, hopefully the return is painless.

The price of these E series reels has skyrockted. Unbelievable how much they are these days.

I have been very happy with my HG series. I can get the citica version which is virtually identical to curado and bump it up to a curado with a few parts. On average I can get the citica HG for $40 to $50 and the curado HG reels for less than $100 while the E series are now double that up to around $200 now.

I was thrilled yesterday to find in a pawn shop a very nice Falcon Buccu rod on sale as a combo. It had apparently sat around unsold for quite some time and the pawn shop was motivated to sell it. This makes my 24th made in USA Falcon rod in my collection.

I bought it for $30 plus an orange plastic junk lews reel on it broken as usual which probably helped this rod to not sell. I cut off the rat'l trap lure, wound up the line on the reel and handed it back to them. Keep it. I don't want it. No doubt they will put a $50 price tag on a broken reel. The rat'l trap is going to my 12 year old son.

Going back today for the made in USA Powell rods.

The person who sold them to the pawn shop tried to do his own repairs on guides and handles and absolutely butchered them. So no one wanted to buy them. All I see are good blanks needing some TLC. All I need are more projects. So, after buying the Powell rods, time to load up boat and drive across Florida for some inshore and bass fishing for a few days while keeping an eye on a GLoomis 7' MH spinning rod auction currently at $26. no doubt will go over $100 soon.

Pawn shops are the place for out of production fishing rods and reels. Sure wish I could find one of those E curados in a lefty. Man those are rare to find these days. I'll have to take another look at the Citica E series. The Citica HG and Curado HG are just about the same reel give or take a couple of parts easily replaced. Cool find.

I hope you don't me asking how much you paid for the Curado 50E?

I don’t think it’s unbelievable at all!!

To me the Curado E regardless of size is still the best reel Shimano ever made.

As far as left reel ones, I would never own one and yes they are rare, just need to do some research.

Yikes, that has to be frustrating.

I don't even think I'd want a replacement. I'd just want my money back.

Good luck with the process.

@HawkeyeSmallie it was the only one of that model in stock so I will have to get a refund. It was definitely a first for me, annoying but I've never had a similar problem so I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later. Been a rough month haha bird broke a window on my house, water heater hose leaked, broke 2 rod tips and then this one snapped. October is cursed for me this year.

*2 tip inserts, didn't actually break blanks, knock on wood...

I'll only buy when stores have 20% off sales... Or used ones will go for about 600 to 700...better than paying full msrp..

Curado E lovers should get the JDM version scorpions. Way cheaper, exactly the same performance and easy to find.

I've often wondered about that.  Is it the exact same spec as the US version but colored in a dark maroon?  I have heard that some of the JDM version reels have different braking, a different alloy of main gear, etc.

Weird how life works sometimes.

They don't say "When it rains it pours" for no reason.

Here's to a better November.

I don't remember if the gears are made out of the same material, but everything else is indeed the same. Performance is indentical. In my opinion the green color on the Curados looks better, but considering how much more expensive they are, you might as well get a Scorpion, and do a custom paintjob on it. Will end up cheaper, and looks better in every way.

Check the review. Few years back, it was pretty easy to find one in like new condition for under $130 on ebay and yahoo. It's harder now, but they do pop up, and for some reason in not very high demand so the bids don't usually go that high.

I picked up a Tatula 80 for $105 delivered.  Going to put it on an older Team Daiwa-X 6’6” ML rod (4-12lb rating) and have a nice light action, 12lb test setup.

With a big coupon offer and a free set of fishing pliers, I took a chance on the new Kastking MG Ti reel. I was more than surprised at how light and how well this reel performed. I had the brakes set in about 3 casts and never backlashed the rest of the trip. I was fishing a private lake known for numbers and bigs. In 3 days I caught over 40 bass on a wacky rigged Senko (most of them dinks because they enforce catch and release) but had probably 10 of those that tested the drag. It was incredibly smooth. Only time will tell on the durability but it will be the first reel I pick up until then.

Picked up a Lew’s Custom Lite 200 size spinning reel on closeout for $37 at my local Dick’s. My first Lew’s. Gonna spool it up with 6lb something, thinking of a newer kinda braid but I haven’t kept up with all the new advancements…..
