7”+ Stick Worms: Rigging Advice

Featured Replies

Yesterday my 5 year-old son helped me with selections while shopping the Spring Classic at Bass Pro off the Sevierville exit (a stunning specimen of a store).

Among his choices were these absolutely massive, thick 7 1/8” Stick-O’s…what the heck kind of hook do I need to rig these in, say, a weightless Texas rig?

Any other kind of rigging suggestions?

I almost never fish anything bigger than 4/0 EWG’s, but I have a feeling those won’t suffice. Maybe a 6/0 Flipping Hook if I can thread the line through the worm before tying on?

I use a 7/0 EWG Gamakatsu with the 7 1/8" Sticko for T -Rigging.

I fish a Manns 10" jelly worm with a 5/0 hook.

I like these in 6/0 or 7/0 for 7" senkos. Any hook with enough shank length where its bend penetrates the egg sack is a plus for longevity.

Swap out the stock springlock keeper for an Owner CPS (L)Large and the bait will last way longer. Stick-Os are also way tougher than GY senkos.

The Core tackle Ozark rig works really well on Senko's and creature baits.

If you want to fish it weightless 4/0 or 5/0. I personally don't use EWG's .
