Went fishing yesterday and used my Leatherman three times. Twice to resharpen hooks and once to tighten loose screws on my seat.

My Leatherman is a must have. It’s been instrumental in saving my bacon more than once.

First what kind of trip; my boat, someone else’s boat, or bank fishing?

I was thinking bank fishing, but in my boat I carry more things. Landing net and small tool kit are two more.

Not really a leave the house thing but when I get to the boat ramp I send my wife the GPS coordinates. That way if something would possibly happen there is a starting point

Good idea.

Those service station towels are brutal.

Ya'll must have frequent bowel emergencies if you've had experience using wind shield wipe towels from the gas station.

I think I'd just prefer to "hold it" and wait for a more suitable situation.

@gimruis I agree. I’d rather go the @T-Billy route and head into the woods.

Rod, reel, line, lure, pocketknife, fishing license.

About half the time I go fishing, that's all I take.  And that's all I really need.

Bank fishing three spare baits in my shirt pocket and one setup.  Extra stuff in the truck.

what do you do with the vinegar to keep them away??

Put it on a paper towel and dab it on my neck, ears, shirt, arms and then dump most of it on my boots and legs up to my knees. Its kept me insect free for the past few years, even when walking through various tick infested woods. After reading about what most insect repellents contain id rather use something more natural that is also edible, im not a big fan of putting chemicals on my body whether it be sunscreen or insect repellent....

My absolute minimum is what I'll grab to walk to the dock and fish.

Hat or sunglasses

pliers

knife

I just need to be able to retie and get a fish off, everything else is luxury.

Besides Rod/ Reel/ Tackle/ Tools... Water, Sunscreen, Sunglasses, TP and PFD.

small sling pack with a single 3600 flex box, whatever lures and terminal I need tossed in the flex, maybe a couple packs of soft plastics in the bag. Spool of line if I'm running braid+leader.

License is always in the pack.

Line cutters/Pliers/Stats/Sunscreen always in the pack.

Sun hat, shirt, gloves.

Everything has been mentioned, except...   (alright-alright-alright)

Everything above is good. But you just can't leave without having the Dude Wipes or something equivalent. TP does not fair too well all the time especially in bad weather and the dude wipes work in the field as well as in the gas station. They are packaged so you are ready all the time. The other item that I have to have is my old hand held gps. They make better ones today that might be better. Nevertheless the one that I have helps me travel around. Some people can use the cellular phone until it gets wet. I think having a little redundancy in that department is best

Telescopic lure retriever because some of those found lures can be just out of reach.

In addition to much of the stuff already mentioned.
