Icast 2025 lure

Featured Replies

Which new lure(s) from Icast are you excited to try out?

That snag proof zoo prop and the frog factory mongrel look pretty good to me.

To me, icast this year was underwhelming. That said, I’m really digging the kgb lil guy.

Agree. This year just did not have the pizzazz factor. Really laid back and low key for sure.

There really was not much new under the sun at this show.

I will say though it was nice to see the new crop of electric propulsion motors at the show- and my first jet propelled kayak. Pretty cool!

I think I'll hold off until kayaks have wings and can fly me into those backwater spots. And one day have remote controlled drone lures that will simply go get my next PB! Ha!

Right there with you and also very excited about the new scum frog bass rat and compact frog!  It's going to be a froggy year which is always a good thing.

Lots of new fuzzy / tentacle soft lures. I have not jumped on that band wagon yet. Is it a fad, a gimmick or are you all in on it and keeping it quiet?

I think Tightlines UV has been making “fuzzy” baits for years now, right? They weren’t the thing until recently. So what gives?

Ditto. Can't wait to get my hands on one. Other than that...meh.

I've been a fan boy of poop baits and by extension poop baits/bug baits with appendages. I fish them daily and always have one sort or another tied on.

Been having fun with the Coike Shrimp lately..either on a Jika or a Decoy Switch Bomb. Very lively looking!

Don’t find the action very enticing at all on that offering. In the video it looks like a piece of wood debris or a stiff porcupine.

Years ago (like 40+) we were running (spinnerblade) skirt strands through Berkley stickbaits and they produced well, a different look from a normal worm with an amazing amount of action.

This is like bell bottom jeans, an old design idea presented as something new to the next generation. I guess it is new to the fact that they are actually being manufactured but an old concept.

I'm excited about Rapala DT 12. I  have wanted them to come out with one for years.  I know the DT 10 and DT 14 covered the 12 foot range just fine, but most of my crankbait fishing is done from 8 to 14 feet, and I hope the DT 12 will fit in perfectly.  For some superstitious reason I have never been a big fan of the DT 14.   I always jumped up to the 16 if I needed to get deeper than the 10.  Looking at the numbers of colors the 16 is offered in compared to the 10  maybe other anglers have the same superstition.

I know about the complaints of the bills separating on the DT series, it's happened to me a few times.  No, I don't slap them on the water to remove weeds.  Where I fish crankbaits, there are no weeds.  Even with the failures there are many times the DT series has saved the day, when my many other crankbaits couldn't produce.  I don't know why, but they are fish catchers.  I hope the DT 12 will live up to my expectations.

The Strike King Hog Father Jr will take my money I'm sure. I don't "need", it, but it's a bait that I've wanted in the original version, but in a much more affordable version, so I'm sure I'll get one.

this, the snag proof and scum frogs and the 8" trick shad have me excited on the lure side

Not much really stood out to me. I'm going to try the Big Bite Baits Thresher Worm as a trailer on a couple of things but that's about it. One thing that caught my eye as a curiosity thing was the Great Lakes Finesse CX Spinning Rods. The design of the lead guide coming off the spool is something I hadn't seen before. Seems almost counter-intuitive to me for a spinning rod but I'd be curious if anyone tries it what they think.

Those are microwave guides right?

Did no one see the K-Rig?

I don’t know if it’s absolutely stupid or absolutely brilliant.

Eh.

I'll let you guys try them all out and in a year you can tell me what's good.

Here are a couple of photos from ICAST this year. I am avoiding showing any brand names trying to follow rules. If I am allowed to post all my images I will do so, but for now only showing photos trying to avoid brand names.

This is one of the casting tanks. I saw 2 this year.

Some new lures. No idea who or what. Don't recall really.

This next image was making some waves at ICAST. This is a brand new hull material that saltwater guys were all over. In order for them to make these hulls it requires custom machinery for injection molding. This is some super tough hull material and it floats. This was one busy booth.

Ah yes, the old swag buckets they were handing out at the front door this year. This man is looking around wondering which way to go to fill it! This is my old boss and rep for trolling motors about to hit the show floor. I wound up carrying this bucket towards the end of the day when it was full.

I thought when I skipped the buckets and bags at the door that I would be exempt from toting one. Not so.... the guy in front of him is carrying one too!
