when the fishing isn't ideal, are you listening to anything? music?

Featured Replies

I listen to the wind, water, and anything furred, finned or feathered....

**Edit - When fishing isn't slamming, I need to pay closer attention and having music playing is a distraction which is counter intuitive to my "style" of fishing.

No, nothing. I get out on the water specifically to escape from everything. While I emerse my mind, body & spirit totally into whatever that day brings. If you're going to listen to ANYTHING ELSE

No music... Just nature and talking to myself...

I just listen to nature and the voices in my head telling me I should be fishing over there. 😁

Always sports when I’m solo with earbud, music on Bluetooth speaker when my buddies are on board. I turn it down if there’s a boat within eyesight. Had a guy in a boat keep coming closer to me one day and it was weirding me out, he then said “I’m just getting closer so I can listen to Hank Sr with you” 😂. I lost my marbles when TN won a college World Series game in my kayak once, I think the lakefront homeowners most likely decided I escaped the nervous hospital

Also, the southeastern US is by far the most forested part of the country so believe it or not, we too have leaves

I love music but not while I'm fishing. As far as someone else playing it, if its not too loud it doesn't bother me but there a few guys on my lakes that go full blast and its annoying. Its gotta drive the fish away. There is one guy that plays country music at level 11 just so it will keep other fisherman completely away from his spot. He even wears ear plugs. Some people are just 🥜🥜

I used to wear my AirPods but didn’t want to replace them if one fell in the lake, so if anything, I have my phone playing a podcast or 70s rock. I’ve had may people come to my kayak and say things like “I swear I just heard Steve Perry (journey) singing” or “hey - I thought Prince was dead, but I swear I just heard him sing little red corvette…” or “that is the voice of an angel. I can’t even make eye contact with you right now. Your voice is like a combination of Fergie and Jesus”

Usually head out in the canoe with the intention of putting on some music on the phone. But four hours later think about again, the decide not too.

Disrupts my concentration on my line, presentation or next move.

It’s the one thing that is ruining golf, the personal boombox!
