Has anyone heard from him?

I hope he’s ok.

I've been thinking of him lately as well. I pray all is well with him. Same goes for AlabamaSpothunter. He hasn't been here since last June.

Hope all is well with them..

  • 2 weeks later...

I corresponded with him via texting a few months ago. He had a surgery but said all is good.

He was also having some major back issues and hasn't been fishing much.

I haven't spoken to him lately. I'll text him tomorrow to let him know y'all are asking about him.

I wondered what happened to him too. He was a regular contributor and knew a lot about the pro fishing circuits.

Yeah, he can catch 'em too. Hammers the big's all winter on his home lake. He hasn't posted anything to his YT channel in a long time either. I hope he's OK.

Here was Phil's reply today

"

I am doing well for an old man. I sold my boat because I am afraid to go out by myself and I get tired fast. I still fish from the bank on occasion. Thanks for asking.  ☺️"

I suggested that he get on here and let everyone know how he's doing and that everyone was asking about him

You gotta wonder if something serious did actually happen to him if that's the case. People don't just "stop" doing those things unless a catastrophic life event has occurred.

The last time we fished together, he had a really bad back problem. We actually went back to the dock early because his back was hurting so bad.

Yeah, AlabamaSpothunter (Alex?) was super active on here and had quite a few close contacts. If he was going to be moving onto his next hobby/adventure after getting his double digit bass goal he definitely seemed like a guy who would've mentioned it to everyone in a post. Hopefully all is well with him!

"The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated!" Seriously, I have had a few medical issues in the past year that has slowed me down quite a bit. I'm in pretty decent shape for an old man near 80, but the list of things I can no longer do is growing. After my back operation, my stamina is just not there. I also had a cancer scare that Jesus chose to save me from. I never thought anyone here would miss my posts. Thanks for asking about me... I'll try to hang out here more.

Glad to hear from you. Coincidentally I had been browsing the Southeast forum and was wondering how you were doing just a few days before @SC53 posted this. Praying your recovery goes well and you are able to get out there and do some fishing.

@Swamp Girl I shot Alex a private message a little over a week ago, no response as of yet. Hope things are okay with him, too.

Glad to hear all is well!

Thanks for the well wishes. I had no idea anyone would miss my posts? You guys should know there will come a time when you can no longer fish by yourself. As you grow older, your balance goes first, followed by your stamina, then those little aches and pains you have now make even sitting in a boat painful. I have been bass fishing for nearly 70 years. I enjoyed every minute of it. I fished some of the first tournaments in the late 60s. Some of the things I could tell you would make you laugh for hours. I met and fished against thousands of great anglers, some famous some regular guys. Bass fishing has changed a lot, people haven't. If I see something on this forum that I can contribute, I will be happy to comment. If anyone has a question, this would be the best place to ask it. I do my fishing these days from my keyboard.

I would love to hear more about those things, and I doubt that I'm alone.

This is how the knowledge for the next generation arrives; experience, tales of lore and camaraderie.
