Nice rig.  I have two glorious xc's on the way that I'm pretty pumped about.  Is that the biwako?

What handle is that and what size?

Avail 95mm.....

Acquiring some of the parts needed to build this took some time as it's hard finding brand new Ambassadeur side plates in black. These came from an Abu Black Max 5500 I bought with a tweaked frame, perfect candidate for a parts reel.

This reel is a mix of new and old down to the last detail. The handle nut with "OIL" engraved, the anti-reverse dog, the vintage black Abu Garcia decal on the side plate, the small star wheel used in the 50s era Ambassadeurs, and the chromed brass frame used in the late 70s model 4500C. On the inside we have Boca Lightning spool bearings, a single bearing level wind, lightweight brake blocks, Carbontex drag washers, 6.3:1 gears, and a lightweight line guide taken from a new production 4600C3. Lastly, the swept handle is a new production unit used on the new C3 reels. It's nice and smooth, and this weekend I'll see how it is on the water. I'm kind of thinking about selling it but it took a fair amount of time to get some of the parts so I just might hang on to this guy.

That's sweeeeeet!

That abu is a beauty.

Has that clean vintage look to it.

You should definitely keep it.

Sweet.

Old reels are just cool.

Took my old shimano bantams on the boat the other day. Brings back memories.

Just upgraded my four Calcutta 400D's to five of the new Conquest 400's.  Can't wait to get them out on the water!

I have had this rod and reel for a while, but the combo is finally "finished".  I got the TD-Z on ebay for like a hundred bucks then added a ZPI PG spool w/ matching bearing, CF drag, corks, and a few color parts.  Going to use it for heavier t-rigs, mostly 10' Culprits and some tbd creature bait.

A new (old) 1979 Abu Garcia Ambassaduer 5500C...

Which one?

Fenwick Boron X 6'...

St. Croix Legend Glass 7'4" MH...

Looks great! How does the hh sky blue match up with the ZPI light blue? I'm thinking of going with the same combo for my first and newly acquired SV 103.

I think they are very close, I will try to get a picture today if I can make it outside with any sunlight left.
