Had my tournament on Newton Sunday. Lake fished awfully tough. Plant has been down for two weeks broken, so entire lake was sitting at 48-49.

Caught 6 fish all day, two that were 17 ³/⁴", and one that just barley hit 18. Thankfully that one fish was good enough to get me 4th place. Only one boat was able to get their limit of 3, good for 13.xxlbs

Thanks for the report.  I'll be headed to Newton in a couple weeks.  Hoping the water warms up a little.

I've got another out there on the 26th. I've got a few people letting me know the status of the plant. I'll let you know.

That would be great.  Depending on weather, I might be there the next day.  Definitely a couple days that week.  Didn't you used to be on a couple of the Chicago fishing forums?

Would it cost 3 times as much as a 1 year license?

I don’t quite understand the point of this to be honest. In MN and WI you need to buy one every year. I don’t see it as an inconvenience. Is it that hard to obtain a license in Illinois to go hunting or fishing every season?

Umm - we DO have 3 year licenses available....for $4 less than buying 3-one year licenses.

I had no idea. You never hear of anyone buying those here.

I looked back - 2013 was the first year they had them available.

Just thought I'd reach out here.  I am looking for a boat for the IHSA Sectional Tournament at Busse Woods (for high school kids).  If anyone would be willing to help out with a boat on May 4, we would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Please feel free to PM me.

I find it as a convenience. I have a lifetime IL fishing license that I purchased in 1992 for me and my wife. Its' nice not having to get one every year. Also when I purchased ours it has already paid for itself., which as the years go by the licenses have gone up. I believe in '92 the licenses were around $9.00. It works for me.

You have to understand IL and how it's run. They will frontload the IDNR fund and pis away the money. They will allocate some money to the IDNR and the rest will go into a slush fund which will be spent how Pritzker sees fit. The Illinois budget is a shell game.

You may want to post the restrictions of Busse or any of the Cook County Preserver "boating" rules.

Like: Boats with electric motors are allowed, however gas motors must be removed.

In the past, they removed this requirement for the HS Ts.  I know a friend used his Legend on Busse for the HS T once.

Yup. Unless it's changed, the big motor needs to be 100% trimmed out of the water.

Found it:

Busse Woods Reservoir (South Pool)

Boat Ramp: South Pool boat ramp will be used Restrictions: For the IHSA sectional tournament only, the Forest Preserve District will allow outboard motors on boats. They can be used to load and unload the boats and at no wake speed while moving from one place to another on the lake. They must be shut off while fishing occurs and only trolling motors used at this time. Outboard motors will not be allowed on boats prior to the Sectional tournament for pre-fishing.

The Alabama Rig, or other multiple rig variations, is prohibited during any IHSA Bass Fishing State Series competition.

Yes- for the IHSA tournament, they remove those regulations for us and you even can use your gas motor- just no wake.

It's crazy to see 20ish bass boats on that lake that day.

Negative! I'm central Illinois. I try not to go north, unless I'm heading to WI.

The big girls are starting to move up to feed. I caught this ~21" on a vision 110 then a 19.5" a few casts later this afternoon -

Fantastic healthy prespawn looking fish.

Us rednecks need weights not lengths though ?
