Oh well, since weird number calculations are creeping up on this thread, IF I were a Mercurian, I'd be a little over 232 years old:o) Ahgagagagagaga!!

say you have $100..
I'm back from Angler's Edge in Lakeside. Better equipped, but $105 poorer. I knew I couldn't walk into that place and only spend $50!! Bit in the arse by Mr. BM again:o) RW: I'll let ya know how those Fat Ika's work out for me. Thanks again for the TIP!! (and the BM thanks you too since he can now afford dinner:o)

How many bass do you catch a year?
Not enough!! I hope to remedy that after I retire:o)

coffee tube
Caffinated or Decaff?? Something else to promote the "Curse of the Bait Monkey". Still, maybe you could just soak some tubes and/or worms in some coffee overnight?? Worth a try, I guess. Q: Know how to make Bass jittery?? A: Make them swim around in coffeee:o)

say you have $100..
Since I have 7 new rod and reel setups, I'd opt to spend ALL the money on soft baits/lures and Owner hook:o) In fact, as soon as I get home from the commissary, I'm off to Lakeside to get some Fat Ikas and EWG 4/0 offset worm hooks! That should at least amount to $100 WITH all the other stuff the monkey will MAKE me buy when I walk into the place!!! "Beware the Curse"

2008 NBA Champion?
I'm rooting for the Globetrotters, but then again, I don't care much for basketball:o)

Anyone have home aquariums?
Had a nice saltwater one years ago. Drove the cats nuts. I loved that, but then again so did "Monty", my 10' Burmese Python everytime I let him out of his cage to crawl around the house:o)

Thought I was home free.
Already circulated through our family in December! My wife had the worst of it and she hardly EVER gets sick. Put her down and off work for almost 2 weeks!! There be some wicked "bugs" going around everywhere!! Burley: I hope your wife feels better soon. Based on what happened to my wife, I'd say about 2 weeks and the illness will have run its course and she should be getting well soon!!

Idiots and dogs
Sorry to hear about your woes Burley AND I am very sorry those poor dogs have to be subjected to that kind of owner mistreatment. People like that should be made to suffer the same living conditions as the neglected animals. Most dogs are such loving animals and are usually not responsible for their own misbehavior, like barking all night and stuff like that. Hope the situation doesn't worsen or get totally out of hand for you!!!

The Greatest Sport
Fishing for me is an addiction! I get so excited the night before an outing that I can hardly sleep at all!! Casting a line and not knowing what you may hook into is a real RUSH, IMO!!! I do a LOT of other sports but fishing is the only one I have been doing for over 50 years and enjoy now as much as the first time I wet a line. Just my thoughts. And yes, I totally agree that you do meet a great class of people when out fishing. Sure I have meet some jerks as well over the years, but that is a rare occurance!!

Your Dad's tackle box
Several round tin cans of hooks, sinkers, bobbers, spoons (silver and Daredevil red/white), spinnerbaits (Shysters), Jitterbug or two, several Lazy Ikes, couple of wooden Heddon topwaters, extra spool of line, metal and rope stringers, hook remover, rusted scale, tape measure, pliers, scaling/filet knife, Swiss Army knife with several attachments, matches, box of bandaids, stuff like that AND it all smelled BAD:o) It was a green metal box with three cantelever drawers. I can't recollect the name but it was heavy for me to try and carry. Thanks for this thread! A real stroll down memory lane.

Parking wars
KU_Bassmaster: yep, gotta agree with that. When I was attending SDSU here in San Diego, the parking stickers that you had to buy were more commonly referred to as HUNTING LICENSES by the students!!

Hardest fighting freshwater fish?
I kinda wondered if anyone was going to mention sturgeons. I saw one once wallowing at the base of a dam and I thought it was the Loch Ness Monster! Huge, huge fish!! I have caught some large carp that put up a pretty darn good fight as well as some catfish. However, even though I've yet to hook up with one, a MUSKY does appear to be quite a fighter. I've seen them caught on "Lindner's Angling Edge" and, oh boy, the ones they were catching put up one heck of a tussle!! Big fish with nasty attitudes:o) I have caught numerous Northerns that could outfight a LMB anyday. Smallies HAVE to rank real close to the top of the list too! When I had my first sailboat here in 'Diego, I used to motor out into the Bay and me and my daughters would fish for sand sharks, skates, and bat rays! When you hook into a large bat ray, it's like snagging a log and they DO put up one heck of a fight!

Officer down in Clintons motorcade this morning.
DALLAS A veteran Dallas police officer escorting Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's entourage to a rally in Oak Cliff Friday morning lost control of his motorcycle and was killed. The accident happened on the Houston Street viaduct around 9:20 a.m. The Kawasaki 1000 Police Special motorcycle apparently hit a concrete abutment. HD Chopper 8 pilot Troy Bush, who flew over the scene shortly after the incident, estimated that the officer had been thrown about 20 yards by the impact after apparently hitting a railing. The victim was rushed to nearby Methodist Medical Center. The name of the officer, who has been part of the Dallas force since 1988, was not released. Chief David Kunkle was seen arriving at the hospital shortly thereafter. Last year, a police officer was killed while escorting a motorcade for President George W. Bush in Albuquerque, N.M. There was a similar fatal crash involving a presidential motorcade in Hawaii in 2006. NOTE: I'm so sorry for his family!!!

Parking wars
Well, New Yorkers have a solution to the old parking ticket problem: it seems that when they buy an apartment there (in the CITY), many of them ALSO have to BUY a parking spot to go along with it (if they want one) for an additional $175K+. Now that's congestion to the max, IMO!

New here!
Welcome to BR!! It is one Fantastic Forum as far as I'm concerned! Hey, PLEASE feel free to share your walleye expertise over on the "other species" forum. When I get back to Indiana I WANT to catch me some walleye since I hear they are one of, if not the best eating freshwater fish that you can catch.

New to the board and semi-new to fishing
A hearty WELCOME to the BEST bass fishing forum on the Net, IMO:o) Many great guys and gals on BR who will readily share a wealth of information and knowledge with anyone who asks. As Dean already mentioned, once you fish from a boat, you most likely will want your own even if it's a small one/two man jon boat powered by a trolling motor. You CAN catch as many and as large of a fish from the shore. In fact, there are many who have caught their PB from the shoreline. Boats just make accessing great, hard to get to from the shore, spots easier to get to. Again, WELCOME to BR!!!

Words to live by

Drop Shoting
Well, it's working well out here in So CA right now. One guy said he caught 8 nice bass using that technique last weekend in 57 degree water on Lower Otay. Dang, I knew I should have been doing it too!

Winter smackin?
Welcome to the BR forum DeBassin619!! Where in the midwest do you live?? Water around the So CA area is in the 57-58 degree range and tubes and senkos fished SLOW are starting to produce. I'm gonna take RW's advice and try some Fat Ika's next time out. Again, welcome to the BR forum!!!
