  1. "Saw one eat a rockin' chair once" - Quint ("Jaws")
  2. Agreed AND my apologies to fish-fighting-illini!! I in no way intended to get off topic or cause a stir!! I shall CONTROL any ranting/venting in the future. Maybe Marty McFly and Dr. Emmett Brown will be there to calm me down:o) I want my MAPO!!
  3. Welcome to BR, Frank4747!!! I would recommend Senkos T-rigged or Wacky and weightless. I have had some good luck with 4" coffee and watermelon colored tubes on a jighead as well. Will be trying Fat Ika's this weekend. In So CA, dropshotting is producing a lot of bass at the local lake I fish. Seems the "secret" is to fish SLOW and be patient. Hope that helps!!
  4. All GOOD POINTS, Muddy!!! I stand corrected, but still erked:o) I wonder what those professional teams would be worth IF fans stopped paying elaborate prices for tickets and concessions at the GAMES?? I just happen to think actually playing the game/sport is much more FUN than watching it.
  5. Too FUNNY!! Being a former Journeyman Aircraft Mechanic with DOD, I can totally relate to all of that! I guess Sargent Foley should have said: "Before you can sell what we teach you over at UPS..." )
  6. I don't think my post/question "bad mouthed" anyone. I just said it erked me and I am well aware of the income that athletics brings into the colleges (SDSU allum). One SHOULD use his/her God given talent to be as successful as possible. Maybe it's just the overpaid athlete thing that erks me?? Oh well, I guess the fans can afford it. Muddy: I apologize if I upset you. Senility is setting in rapidly!
  7. I totally AGREE with RW. One look at the sky would have told anyone that it was gonna RAIN almost all day. We So CA cats can SMELL rain, well, at least I can:o) PS: F-1 in the rain is AWESOME.
  8. Question: are athletes required to PAY BACK all the waisted FREE college tuition, bribs, housing, and food money they are lavished with IF they leave college early and become overpaid professionals?? It just erks me that colleges would waste all the available educational investment on someone who doesn't even intend to graduate. Somewhere there's an underpriviledged, intelligent young adult who, given a FULL scholarship, would have completed his/her education and went on to become possibly a doctor or teacher - real contributors to society. SORRY ABOUT the RANT. I normally don't do that, but with the salaries of professional athletes in the stratosphere, when someone leaves college early only to become rich, it just erks me.
  9. I think NASCAR has and always will be bigger than OW racing because people can relate more to the cars and the drivers. The OW machines are exotic and foriegn looking, whereas the NASCAR cars at least look like something you might see on the street (sans all the elaborate paint/decals/advertising). I also think that NASCAR drivers being able to "swap paint" makes for more exciting racing. Two OW cars even touch each other and there's USUALLY a horrendous crash (which satisfies someone who is only watching for that kind of thing). Don't get me wrong, I love OW racing too, but after INDY is over, I kinda loose interest in the rest of the season. IMO:o)
  10. You have WAY too much spare time on your hands:o) Funny prank, though!!
  11. And that's why TVs have "previous channel" and/or OFF buttons:o)
  12. I/we look for submerged structure first, then depth/temperature of the water and bottom contour. Cover is equally important in my opinion. Geez, that about covers them all.
  13. Nice setup!! I have to agree with the others that that Jaguar is AWESOME!
  14. There are professional antique apraisers that might be able to help you or even a book expert. Might or might not be worth some real $$$s.

Catt: that is an absolutle horror!!! I pray that the little fellow will somehow be able to get through this!! I also pray that your daughter will be OK too! Are there any leads as to who the vile, despicable, inhuman, thing that could possibly do something like that is??
  16. Welcome!! This IS the bass forum for a bass fisherman to belong to, IMO:o) Great guys and gals, great advice and opinions!! PS: my Mom, 2 brothers, and sister all live in the Kankakee area and I'm coming back there in July after I retire. Where in Central Ill do you live??

Bluegill caught on the Whitewater River in Indiana MANY years ago:o) Since then I've caught about everything indigenous to the waters of the Midwest EXCEPT a Musky.
  18. canal angler: I'd GUESS that you got floating fly line since the sinking lines generally don't come with most setups. Just use small poppers and follow the great advice already given by the other guys. I too have two new fly rod setups and that's exactly what I'm going to do when I first start using them.
  19. I'd have it tested at a gas station or Auto Zone before going through the hassle of returning it (UNLESS your BPS is local - then just drop by and get a new one to be on the safe side).

I bought 6 packs of Fat Ika's yesterday and can't wait to work 'em out next weekend at Otay!! I certainly appreciate the tips that RW gave everyone about them!!!
  21. GREAT pictures, guys!! Guess we'll have to wait until 2010 to get some more.
  22. I hope to get both of my sons to accompany me next weekend on an outing to Otay!! Heck, I'm in the BR Tournament, I guess I'd better get my butt out there and hopefully catch some hawgs!! My sons haven't been fishing with me for over 20 years, BUT when they saw all the stuff I recently bought AND saw all the fishing stuff I got on Christmas day (all I asked for), they both enthusiatically said they would love to go with me sometime. Here's hoping!!
  23. "Somebody say COOKIE?" - Cookie Monster:o) I LOVE peanut butter cookies with whole peanuts in 'em!!! Also, chocolate chip with walnuts while they're still warm from the oven and the chocolate is still soft with a tall glass of cool milk. KILLER:o) We normally buy 5 - 10 boxes of GS cookies every year from parents selling them at work.

Welcome to the BEST bass fishing forum on the Net, IMO:o) Looking forward to seeing your avitar on a lot of posts! Many great folks with a wealth of knowledge and experience on BR to help you out with all your bass or just plain fishing questions/problems.

Sounds like they could use some "educating" on safe boat transport. I'd be more concerned about that than thinking what they did was funny. Probably was, but still, they could have lost the boat and truck and that would not be humorous at all. It also sounds like they were taking your practice advice seriously. They just chose the wrong time to do it AND they were not properly prepared.
