  3. Healthy Looking Bass ~ Nicely Done Congrats A-Jay
  4. Great Bass ~ Nicely Done ! You're really on them early. And just for reference, I'm hitting it again in the morning but pretty sure I'll be casting in SNOW Flurries. #nobugs Congrats again A-Jay And let's all keep that deal going for as LONG As Possible ! A-Jay
  5. After drooling over so many great brown bass in this thread, I am finally able to contribute. My first Brown bass of 2023 went in the frabil this morning. 5.44 lbs solid start. A-Jay
  6. Conditions this morning were pretty sporty and the bite window wasn't open very long. Either way, I still managed to get my fix . . . . . Fish Hard A-Jay
  7. Hello Paul and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ A-Jay
  8. When we first moved into our place here 2008, we needed clear some land, build a small dog kennel and make the fenced in 'dog yard'. Most of it my hand. Planted some trees and lots of grass. Here's some before & after shots - took just about 3 years to come in fully. Still a lot of work to keep right. A-Jay
  9. Me too - I was just having some fun. A-Jay
  10. Share what the total MSRP of all your gear actually is, and be honest. Smiles turned up side down. ? A-Jay
  11. Your OP does not specify where. My choices are for big water with plus sized fish. Good Luck with the Scotch tape deal. A-Jay
  12. I need more line capacity than most every 'shallow' spool I've come across. So it's At Least Regular spools for me. However, prefer Deep spools if & when I can get them. Bulk mono backing has been working well for a while now. A-Jay
  13. Nice Bass ~ GREAT HOODIE ! A-Jay
  14. Hope you feel better soon @Catt A-Jay
  15. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ A-Jay
  16. Excellent read & report Sir ! Really enjoyed it. Congrats on getting out there & doing some damage on the green bass population. Hope the weather clears for you because then I know it will be clearing for me soon too. Fish Hard A-Jay
  17. @C.Rig21 As mentioned here already, using a braid mainline may solve your hookset problems. Something in the 8-10 lb range should still offer plenty (or more) casting distance. However the hook sets will be night & day vs and 6lb mono, and perhaps a little more sensitivity. If you feel the need, matching this with an appropriate mono or FC leader is a common deal. I also fish a 7'6" ML stick when presenting light baits some distance. Always use light braid & leader, rarely are the hooksets the biggest problem. https://youtu.be/KuPRtdajOLU?t=116 Good Luck A-Jay
  18. @pdxfisher Really enjoyed your report and especially the video. Everyday on the water is special and that certainly took it to another level. Congrats on the Great Smallies and in particulr your New Personal Best Brown Bass ! Looked like a real healthy fish and she sure took you for a ride. Nicely Done. A-Jay
  19. @Jig Man As a long time uni-to uni knot user and abuser, I recommend it. It's plenty strong, reasonably durable and most importantly easy to tie; which promoted replacing when needed. If a knots a PIA, folks seem to fish them too long #failure. 5-6 wraps always does fine for me in the tests you've listed in the OP. In the below clip, After releasing a nasty pike with a bad disposition. I replaced my leader. https://youtu.be/S_Owp6ZVN0U?t=1788 A-Jay

  22. I know that feeling. Glad you're OK. Bummer your rig's a little dinged up. A-Jay
  23. I've been fishing the 110 +1 Jr's with a St Croix Avid X ML spinning rod spooled with 8lb braid and an 8 lb FC leader. Seems they do run at the advertised depth of 7 ft. I did change out the stock #8 trebles with #6's Gamakatsu EWG Treble Short Shank Magic Eye. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Gamakatsu_EWG_Treble_Short_Shank_Magic_Eye_6pk/descpage-GET.html Been using a St Croix Avid X ML spinning rod. Set up has accounted for several plus sized Brown bass for me. https://youtu.be/o9xew3tWuuU?t=51 A-Jay
  24. X2 ~ Breaker Bar is the way to go. I use this WITH a Breaker Bar. Because I am a girly man. https://www.amazon.com/Gorilla-Automotive-1721-Telescoping-Wrench/dp/B000CMJ2KU?th=1 A-Jay
  25. After a couple of really gorgeous and busy off days, I am back in the home gym. Total Body 1 and it went well. At some point in the near future, I'm expecting to be getting out fishing. So while I'll still be training when I can, these workout videos will be replaced by fishing videos for a few months. Can't wait. #borninfiftynine A-Jay
