  1. You can try to contact the ILDNR and at least put in a complaint. Probably will fall on deaf ears as the ILDNR is under manned because it is under funded. The most effective way to treat algae blooms is to prevent the nutrients from entering the water. That's not going to happen as the farm lobbies have a lot more power than the conservationist lobbies in the state.
  2. Yes, algae blooms are caused primarily from excessive nutrients(fertilizer) and lack of current and/or lack of fresh water. As far as doing something about it...you live in IL. If the waterway is not privately managed, I wouldn't get your hopes up.
  3. Different strokes...
  4. Funny? I don't see you in the pic...

For all you old farts out there
  6. I watches 5 or six seagulls fighting over a meal. Originally, I thought they were feeding on bait. They were actually, fighting amongst themselves, over a sucker or a carp. A bald eagle comes out of nowhere, swoops down and grabs the sucker from the water, away from the gulls. Talk about a ticking contest. The eagle is flying back and forth over land and water for what has to be a good 5 minutes with the gulls chasing his tailfeather. The eagle drops the sucker into a backyard where a kid was playing. Kid screams "Mommy it's raining fish!"
  7. Not new...elusive...
  8. Yesterday. Bass are in some form of spawning mode, bluegills are staging and should be on the beds in another week or so. No crappies to be found. Lost a 3 pounder when I was hoisting it into the boat.
  9. Fresh caught parmesan encrusted largemouth bass
  10. Club I used to fish paid out 90% at the ramp by entrants. Payout was 1 place for every 6 entrants and 10% administrative. Start at 60% for 1st and figure it out from there.
  11. Get yourself some Jack Black and siphon it thru some mud
  12. I quit in '99. Was at 3 packs a day when I quit. Squares were $3.75 a pack when I quit. Today, with taxes, I believe they are over $13 a pack. When I started smoking, I could get a carton for maybe $9 out the door.
  13. If I spend 70K on a truck, I need to get my head examined
  14. Boat is still a boat. I spent $42K on a 20ft aluminum boat back in 2013. I used it as a tool until I sold it. In 2021 for not much less than I paid for it. I was criticized for spending $42K on a 20ft aluminum boat back in 2013. What's that gonna cost you now? $60-$70K. I didn't lose much on the deal.
  15. Agree. Craftsmen take care of their tools. It's still a tool
  16. Don't know where I've been. I heard this cover for the first time over the weekend
  17. Depends on the weight rating of the boat/transom. The weight rating will be on the hull ID tag. What are you going to do for fuel? If you add a separate tank, that adds another 50lbs, plus 90-100lbs for the motor. That boat might be ass heavy.
  18. It's $12 for big mac meal in IL and a pub burger at a sit down will run you $30 with a drink and sides. Grandma's birthday is tomorrow. She wants to go out for breakfast. Plates run $18-$30...for breakfast!!?? Truck is 6 years old with 80K on the odometer. No tickets or accidents and I'm paying about $400 more a year for insurance than, when it was new. Back to the eye opening trip to BPS, I went to Cabelas today to get my licenses and Cabelas no longer gives out the vinyl bifold to put the license in.
  19. Bought my IL and WI licenses today, emptied all the crap out of the boat that piled up over winter, and respooled the reels. Still need to get rid of the old gas and get the motor started.
  20. Great minds think alike
