Closed face baitcaster???
I spotted something that looked like one of these the other day. It was a very low end plastic off brand cheapo. Now that I think about did Rhino or somebody make one of these before? The point is the general concept is it a good idea? Would you get the bc performance w/o the backlash? I doubt it or the name brands would be on it too I would think. I'm interested in your thoughts.

Uncle Sam Soda Tax?
Saw the other day San Francisco mayor passing a tax aimed at soda distributors. The proceeds of which were to be used for health programs aimed at obesity. I can see their point although it does lean toward the government nosy syndrome. ( The mayor seemed pretty young and pretty sharp not some nut job). Maybe some alternatives would be 1. outlaw the sale of soda in qty's larger than x number of ounces ( (say 12) in one container. If someone wants a 36 ounce drink they can get it but will have to be "inconvenienced" a little. 2. maybe a special tax but only on larger drinks 3. how about taking that tax and putting it toward fast food places and chain rest's in the form of making them profit on water or milk as an alternative drink? Only make it for water in soda type cups so as not to add yet more plastic to land fills ( not to mention wasted oil ). In short just offer a healthy alternative at a reasonable price. Just food for thought ( pardon the pun ). Can we say FFI - AKA Matt Crum for president?

Peta all over this one???
Nope they are not. Rodeo was in town and the news clearly showed the main rodeo show guy reaching over to animals just before gate opening. You couldn't see the device but they calm animals all went nuts just after he "reached" them with his hand! Some local animal people very tactfully voiced their opinion. I fig'd the word would get out and PETA would be all over this one but no go.

Fishing/boat shows - a thing of the past?
I here ya on the price as why pay $10 to go to a show for the purpose of spending money? Their is always two ways to look at things though. On one hand it is tough to spend $10 to look but in my area it is the middle of winter and is a nice temp fishing "fix". We only have to pay to get in, no parking costs. Also the nearest BPS or Cabela's is 200 mi's one-way at 20mpg x $3/gal we are talking $60. Re show cost: No individual or organization is putting a show on just for the fun of it so they are going to need to make some profit. You've got building rent and electric and heat costs so I doubt anyone is getting rich. The economy is tough on shows. How much can a lure wholesaler sell to cover booth rent? I know the shows around here have been getting smaller and being held in smaller venues.

I signed up for Bassin from that Ebay deal -
Man I despise crokked people. Just not in my nature to screw people so hard for me to comprehend Doesn't sound like Bassin is a sharp outfit anyway as Maltese I think it was didn't do the ebay thing. Maybe I'll start a boycott Bassin thread. If we get enough aye aye's on the thread maybe I'll send a link to both Bassin and Walmart as maybe Wallyworld could put heat on them.

WWOZ.COM
I'll check it out. Hey muddy this is a long shot but a few years ago there used to be a beer commercial on. They had a guy with a deep voice narrating. They had some very light jazz in the background saxaphone I think. Maybe 30 seconds worth of music in the background. I loved that tune. Do you happen to know who or what it was? Does anyone know for that matter?

It is or was Ebay time
Maybe it was Christmas money I'm not sure but as soon as X-mas got here it was over. I don't see anywhere near the type of deals now. You'd think people would be unloading the old getting ready for the new season. I'll have to remember this for next year - Christmas in November!

Rod power / sensitivity question?
I'm a total greenhorn on rods so blast me out of the water on this one. Another post got me thinking. Does going down to a light power rod vs a M power effectively add to its sensitivity with the same given action? Seems like the big semi vs the MG midget theory would apply. The semi barely feels the little car when hitting it.

light power rods
I use a couple of Berkley Lightining ML's ( action not defined). I've caugt some nice 2-4 lb LMG's on it. Makes for a fun deal and easy to fish for crappied with the same setup. I used everthing from triple treble Smithwick Rouges, to 1/4 oz colorado spinners to 1/8 oz or less crappie spinners, to 3/8 oz swimbaits. Sure makes for a fun fight. MH down to Light for your first spinning setup? That's a long way down to jump. maybe go with a medium first and as a 2nd spinning a L or ML for fun? Followup with what ou pick then with how you feel it does so we can all learn.

Broken Fin Fishing Fools
Kid update, It has been since late Oct and my daughter Chelsea has been ok since then. KNOCK ON WOOD!!!!!! We are not 100% sure why. I just asked her if she thinks the medicine and timing that the Chi specialist suggested is working and she said she not sure. She leans toward just having a good run at the moment. We'll take it either way. She is going to start school agin shortly ( for the 3rd time ). She is back on our insurance now so that saves us $350 / mo. We'll see how it goes. The specialist's school of thought is proponent of the problem. More exact is how her body processes the stress. So we will see if the schooling has an effect. Thanks for the prayers keep 'em coming as insurance! Thanks guys

Celebrity sightings
I never saw Walter but his kid ran several times in the IL state gradeschool track meet a few blocks from my house. The Chicago Cubs used to do a road show in the spring in my town. You got to go down on the field and they would give you pointers. Ron Santo, Ernie Banks, Randy Hundley, Billy Wiliams ahh the memories. Was at Augusta GA airport once when clinton landed but I had 2 black suitcases with electronic parts in them, some had wires hanging out of " hockey puck" shaped SCR's. I fig'd best not to try to get close to the pres. Nowdays I'd never get to fly with that stuff! LOL Ny mom used to work at a Mickey D's . The owner was a Notre Dame Grad. Joe Montana used to call every monday morning after the game to talk to his buddy! man I should have gotten an autographed football.

stop signs and stoplights optional?
First f all I stop at them. As food for thought though with gas prices the way they are does it make sense as a country to stop when 100% safe not to do so? Like someone said this would probably bring chaos but ???

stop signs and stoplights optional?

Things Shaky at Work
maybe its just change Muddy. Change is always tough. Like someone said they will often just get the coach not the whole team. As you ove the job and want to keep it maybe arm yourself with a re-buttel should the Axer come knocking. EX " I've accomplished this" or my " performance reviews were ***. Be ready if needed to offer ideas on how to make things better. Bosses love people who offer solutions and not just complaints. Avoid dwelling on the $ aspect as bosses don't like that subject most of the time. If the system is broke their very politely offer ideas on how to make things better. maybe have a copy of the article about you from the paper it shows the Muddy passion. if you do it right just stating the facts none of this would be construed as sucking up just outplaying / out-smarting the other team. To prepare for the worst maybe re-new your contacts with people who might hire you or refer you should you leave. I wouldn't put your name in the "for hire " pool officially as you don't want to give the boss and reasons. Just start working the crowd with your magic in the Muddy fashion as you work the crowd on this sight. Good luck my friend our prayers are with you.

NFL ref uniforms
I believe they just changed this year. Prior to that the pants were the white baseball type fitting with the black baseball type socks.

NFL ref uniforms
I know I'm approaching the old crusty age of 50 but I cannot stand the new NFL ref's uniforms! They are ugly and unprofessional. They look like yuppies going to the gym in cheesy sweatsuits! What do you think of them?

How fast do you drive?
I was just courious on how fast you drive on residential streets. I'm talking about the kind of streets where 10 houses to a block on both sides not a lot of room and where kids could be around or dart out at any time. I think the speed limit is 25 which seems way too fast. I can't tell for sure but it seems like a of people drive way to fast on our fairly short street. I never want to hit anyone no less a child so I try to drive by their houses at a speed that I would want them to drive by my house. On small routine neighborhood short streets I'm probably driving closer to 20mph How fast do you drive on a similar street.

stop signs and stoplights optional?
I see a fair amount of people these days who just don't bother to stop for stop signs mainly. If it is the routine kind they just blow right through them. I'm not talking about a non officially technical complete stop, I'm talking about the don't even slow down for it kind. Seems like more and more people are just not stopping Could just be my outlook with me approaching 50 but how do you guys treat the stop signs? Look forward to your comments FFI AKA Matt Crum
