  1. I caught my two personal best about 20ft from each other and, about 5 or 10 minutes apart, I caught others there too. Much smaller, but they seemed to be hanging out there for about 300 ft or so. Came back about 3 days later and couldn’t buy a bite. They didn't seem to spook each other, if anything it gets them worked up. I’ve watched a bass come up and try to hit the lure hanging out of there mouth. Once I got two on one lure.
  2. I’ve only used wacky rig around docks, I know it works other places. I just like to use it there, I get hung up less with wacky rigged. I use it when the sun is high, it’s a place with shade. I don’t aggressively fish wacky, it’s kinda my lazy way to fish.
  3. A break from heat is very welcomed
  4. If it doesn’t make that noise when it’s not thur the line guide on the level wind. Then I’m guessing, its your line. Braid is noisy, I’ve found the lower number the strand is, the noisier it is.
  5. I do like lily pads, I’ve was doing good around standing cypress. Toss it close, let it sink…wait and twitch.
  6. I’m not a crazy man about it, I do prep some. I’ll pre-rig some poles for the morning. I’ll have an idea of where I’m going and how I’m going to start the morning, topwater usually. I fuel up before hand. I don’t use live bait…. Got nothing against it, just lazy. Don’t want the pain of getting and keeping it alive, so I check that off my morning list. I make coffee and my egg and cheese biscuit and I’m off. Like to be at my first stop just before sunrise. I get fishing reports from my friends that live or fish around here, so I know what, if any, they caught fish on, June bug , or what ever. So I feel pretty prepared that way. That’s about all I do for preparing. I enjoy just about everything about fishing. The prepping, planning, the boat ride getting there, and trying to catch fish almost as much as catching fish.
  7. Nice boat. I like going out every now and then and “letting it eat” for a while. Although mine eats less than yours..haha 15 ft Polar Kraft Mod -V ( welded hull) with a 25 hp Yamaha 4-stroke.
  8. It’s also works as a sacrificial anode for electrolysis on your boat. It is the weaker of the metals and will corrode first.
  9. Mold is a beast….. where do do keep it, garage, carport…..driveway?
  10. I think Dwight Hottle is right, the pro kicker is made for pushing a heavier boat at trolling speeds rather top end speeds. I’ve had a few tin boats and I’m running a 15 ft mod-v now. Since you restricted to 9.9 hp, I’ve found weight and load management helped me the most. I do play with prop pitch too. Try loading the boat batteries, fuel, gear, etc… so it rides level and still gets on a plane easy. I loaded it to the heaviest I thought I’d ever have it then, moved it around until I was happy with it. The tin boats can be weight sensitive. Then I got a tach and started playing with the prop, I don’t know how much you want to get into it.
  11. And what a loooong strange trip it’s beeeen, …..braarr braaarr ( Grateful Dead) sorry couldn’t resist
  12. Yes but, I have to use the motor to get back in. I wear my PDF , from the time I push off the dock until I get back. My left side isn’t as strong as it once was. I could too, I really need to get off my butt and do it too. If I put as much effort in losing weight as I do fishing, I’d look like Arnold…. Not that I’m that good at catching fish, but I do put a lot of effort in to it. LOL
  13. Thanks Glenn
  14. Hi from the Sunshine State of Fl. Never really fished from a Kayak but, I did in Jon boats. If I couldn’t use Mother Nature in my favor, I use tree stakes to hold the boat in place while I fished an area. It was easier than throwing out the anchor, but I did that too. Tree stakes a not too expensive and, work pretty good. I got them at Lowes.
  15. Thanks for the heads up and what happened
  16. I don’t know when it clicked for me, or if it has. I do catch more fish now but, even though I feel I’m still learning, after all these years. I mean I don’t get to mad at myself for getting skunked. I think what I’m trying to say is, I like trying to catch fish as much as catching fish. The ultimate goal of course is to catch fish. Don’t know how to explain it.
  17. I’m still tripping out about this one…..geeeezh
  18. I read something, on here I think, about somebody finding a couple of combos and some other gear. He left a note or something, and the people got in touch with him. They had to leave in a hurry because one of their group needed medical attention… seizure maybe…. I don’t know. I shouldn’t be telling the story when I can’t remember all the details. Any who the people got their stuff back and all was good… The End
  19. I agree 100%…. What a person can learn here about fishing is off the charts. Anyway I bought a few packs of flukes around x-mas time , haven’t had a whole lot of luck with them….. what I meant to say “ I’ve caught nutting on them”. After reading this post and all the different ways to fish them, I’m going to make some time….. go out and fish nothing but flukes for a day. If nothing else I’ll get my rigging techniques down…..I hope.
  20. If he had already fished the area, and you weren’t riding his stern, don’t see a problem. When somebody catches a fish behind me, I usually holler back…” I left that one for ya” but if they catch another one….” Hey I missed that one…he’s mine”.
  21. Hi from the Sunshine State of Fl

  23. Great idea
  24. I sure look forward to the next time I go fishing. Preparing the night before, rigging what bait ya want to start with, where ya going to start the morning out. Pushing the boat away from the dock….. it’s all good
