  1. Is the tube running through the bait sharp or have a sharp spot? I'm not familiar with them but that might be an issue. I've seen it with other brands.
  2. I like braid but hate it in the wind. I live in a wind tunnel sooooo I use long leaders.
  3. Less snags and better in grass. Marginally... You're fine
  4. High end daiwas did that for years and years.
  5. A Carolina Rig only works on days that have the sun rise in the east. Ice out, uh huh PreSpawn yup Spawn... heck yes Post spawn well duh Fall... yes. Think of it this way. Little critters living on the bottom don't naturally move up then crash down like a jig or something with a weight attached to the hook. Although those definitely work, you understand what I am saying. A Rig delivers a bait (assuming you pick one good for the conditions) in a more natural manner. Yes i guess they are labor intensive to tie and cast but man they work.
  6. Exactly! why be one of a million when you can be one of one?
  7. Raid Libero 2.8 Keitech Smeltinator for head on Keitech
  8. I think Ryugi makes it for Zappu
  9. Bellows Hook on those style baits is great
  10. 3.5 use a 3/0 and 1/8th to 1/4oz. Too heavy and the kick doesn't work as well.
  11. For me... Phenix Rockcrawler 475 times out of 10.
  12. He bought the Scorpion and appears to like it.
  13. There are rod socks out there that cover the reel too. Then you need a strap/caddy/rod mule. https://rodprotech.com/rod-socks/rpt-left-hand-retrieve-c-pro-rod-sock-complete-protection/ These are completely custom for you (color, length, handedness, label) built in bait wraps and made in Florida. And they float lol. I've got their strap too and can carry 8 combos with it. The handle is the only exposed part of the rod, no hooks nicking line or tangles. They seem pricey but it's a neoprene sock, reel cover and bait wrap all in one and custom to your rod. Those 3 components separately are about the cost of these anyway.
  14. I believe the hook up tackle did a video on that model?
  15. I've been fishing the Bottom Up Beeble for a while. Same/veeeeery similar design. The middle/joiner blade does catch weeds/filamentous algae a fair amount. Great change of pace bait but definitely not a bladed jig replacement. Especially with all the tweaked designs coming over from Japan now that the patent has expired.
  16. Ozium spray from Amazon. Stuff is awesome.
  17. Mine are custom built NFC MB807 blanks spiral wrapped. 8ft, lures to 1.25oz. Very light. 8ft for long leaders and line pick up on the hookset. Veeery soft tip so you don't yank it away but brutal power lower down. I've stopped boats on snags on the St Lawrence and the rod didn't whimper. 20lb fluorocarbon to a 12-17lb mono leader. Phenix Rock crawler OR finesse weights and spro swivels. If I am feeling sassy I run a Ryugi Beats tungsten weight.
  18. As in buy, forget, then never use? Yes hundreds of them lol.
  19. Mend it has allowed me to have some verrrrry old Keitech SIFs, like 7+ years old. Poor guys are at the "please let me die" stage but still catching.
  20. I don't really fish a lot of popular stuff I guess. I don't like poppers and ploppers. I agree about trokars. If there's a fisherman I do not like I won't buy his sponsors. Not missing much so far. Love me some Carolina Riggin' though.
  21. Shimano will have the parts https://fishshop.shimano.com/collections/cu200xgm Part # 144ea. But... with some swept handles the inside (reel side) will tick against the drag star when it's nearly fully loosened. My Citica E does, however for it to be an issue I would have to have my drag pointlessly loose. If the drag star on a newer reel is the same design (basically a shroud over the square brass nut) you could swap to a swept one if it really bugged you.
  22. Me being a pragmatic person sees the Mangetsu as an old Tatula with new gears and cork knobs for a lot of money. The new Tatula 150 seems to be a good redesign for less money. Mangetsu sure looks good though.
  23. Pull out the harness and use mend-it to fix the hole. Then next time buy the freestyle version and 6/0 beast hooks. I love the freestyle but am not fan of the rigged one at all. Harness is more of a pain than it's worth for me.
