  1. If you could find one Team All Star MH 6'4". Otherwise a MH 6'6" St Croix in a Premier.
  2. This is true Daiwa made both spinning and casting reels as cabelas exclusives, like the recent Arachnid, a blue Tatula tyoe R. They also use to make round and spinning reels as St. Croix brand.
  3. I like the 6'8" MH/MF Lowrider for blade baits. It's short enough to target cast but you can still get decent distance, plus just enough give.
  4. Reviews on BPS site say the older PQ was better, I say pass on it.
  5. I'm from Indiana when I visited a friend in sw Florida we used frogs and senkos and caught quite a few at a place called Webb Lake near Punta Gorda. There are big gators there but also giant bass. I hear there are also Snook and Reds trapped there from when they had hurricanes. I would use the 30lb braid and use a leader(I actually used 15lb McCoys but had a Mh casting rod).
  6. I sold my E series but I kept the 100dsvs, to me they just cast better.
  7. This is what happened to me too. Guess it is a problem with fluoro lines. If I were to use it again I would stick with 10lb test it casts better/less backlashes but still strong per diameter .
  8. I have that rod too for skipping docks, I just wish it had a slightly longer handle. There used to be some 5'9"/5'10" dock skipping rods around wish I could find a used one but until then that rod gets it done. As for a short pitching rod any 6'6" Mh/f should do. I use an old Team All Star 6'6" rod for the most part.
  9. Check Ebay Lucky Craft replacement hooks should be sold there. They are Vmc hooks but are chemically treated by Daichi.
  10. That has always been my gripe about kid trebles too. Balsa lures do not like going from a size 6 to size 4 even if they are shortshank, a size 5 would be perfect. I used VMCs in the past but I think Gammys come in all size 5 or 3 in EWG shortshanks now.
  11. The Max winch Is probably a graphite reel, think I seen them in Wally world. Orra winch #2 is what you want(gen1 received mixed reviews). I have the Orra saltwater reel it is basically a winch#2 with 7.3 to 1 gear ratio. Great caster.
  12. I quit using Yo Zuri as I got breaks in the middle of the spool I guess all Fluoro lines do it at times if you have had an overrun. I went to Gamma copoly and I think it's better. I also like McCoys. This year I am going to try the Sunline Defier lines to see if they are worth the hype, if not it is back to Gamma or McCoys.
  13. I bought Defier and Defier Armillo from TW, still think it was overpriced even with 20% off but maybe I'll change my mind this spring after using it.
  14. Fenwick 6'9" hmg is in your price range.
  15. The Pfluegers that were good at casting light lures was like 2 generations ago that had spools that held only 100yds of 12 lb test line. Now I think they are just Abu Revos with a different paint job.
  16. I had that problem with Siege, so I used the Improved Trilene knot. However I use Gamma copoly now, including 8lb on my spinning rod and it casts well and has good strength.
  17. What about the 2016ish model Fuego? I still see them new on ebay and they have more bearings than the Tatula. Who has tried one compared to original Tatula?
  18. I use Falcon Lowrider 6'8" MH/MF for blade baits its grest.
  19. Cabelas Fish Eagle 7ft MH casting rod 2 piece on sale right now $52.
  20. I have the Costa Jose in green 580G and ya they are nice with better visuals than my Wileys, but I also have used Kaenons which have a Trivex lens and they seem to me to be just as good visually as the Costas but are a tougher lens like the Wileys.
  21. I like the Lexa/Exceler platform better than the Tatulas, but it does not perform as well. Did Daiwa ever make a magforce z reel on the platform?
  22. They brought it back as salt water beetle spin with 3" body, also Betts makes one this this size too.
  23. Gamma copoly is great line, casts/handles better than Yo zuri hybrid with near or equal strength for line diameter. 2nd choice would be McCoys.
  24. 6'3" Team Daiwa S Mh F with copolyfor poppers/walkers and 6'10' St Croix Premier H mf with braid for Frogs.
  25. I had the same problem with slippage with the improved clinch and Siege. Then I tried the improved Trilene knot and it was fine, that 2nd time through the eye is important to this slick line.
