Daiwa Tatula Elite Baitcast - screeches on cast
screeching on a cast isn't a grease lubrication issue on a TWS reel due to the the pinion being disengaged and lvlwind not being engaged as well. The most likely culprit for a loud reel on a cast is the spool bearings/pinion bearing. These are the only things that are engaged during a cast that would cause a "screech". Clean the spool bearings first.

DOBYNS CHAMPION EXTREME 743 QUESTIONS
I love the dx743hpC. One of my favorite dxhp models. its alot faster of a blank than the previous dx that were quite moderate in the lower powers. The weights you want to use for it would be perfect.

Well, my spot-lock stinks
Make sure there’s nothing under the pedal obstructing the turning. If the pedal senses any resistance, it will shut the spot lock off like if you have a shoe or pliers or something that gets stuck underneath. Also try and re-calibrate your offset to -1. Mine got better when I redid the offset. If that doesn’t help, just take it to a warranty center and they’ll fix it.

grease in bearings with vacuum cleaner
For a casting reel, If I'm not just doing to replace it for somebody....I remove one shield. Dip the bearing in a jar and let it drip dry face down on a towel while I clean the parts. I then use very low pressure air to gently blow the bearing excess out and spin it on a bearing tool. I then take a small needle bottle that I have also full of the same oil and apply it in the cage areas and repeat the same dry/blow. You want to make sure the gear oil gets everywhere but you don't want it dripping in the bearing or it can get a little messy. For a spinning reel, just replace it. Frame bearings, even high quality ones, aren't expensive. If you absolutely insist on serving the pinion in a spinning reel, remove the clip that holds the shield on gently so you can reapply it. For a spinning reel bearing, 90wt gear oil or a thin synthentic grease like super lube will be your best option. I think alan suggests or recommends (been a long time since I've looked) yamalube. yamalube will work and will protect a reel bearing from an F3348509234 hurricane but it won't be as free feeling as you may like unless you cut it /w something or use it perfectly in the bearing cages. For freshwater, you don't need it.

The latest sale thread
A lot of people. There were stay at home orders right after BF and limited employees in CA at UPS. There's going to be alot of delays. Crappy timing...but it happens.

grease in bearings with vacuum cleaner
90wt gear oil in frame bearings lasts a very long time if applied correctly.

The latest sale thread
The new stay at home orders in CA having a huge impact on shipping. It isn't TW, it's UPS. There's still BF orders stuck in Van Nuys at UPS. You'll get your stuff from them, but it will take a lot longer now.

Bottom contact rod advice
I thrown 3/16 and 1/4 trigs on the dx743c hp . Love that rod for those weights.

Dawn soap to clean and degrease
Yes, it's safe to soak plastics in. I don't personally use it anymore but it's fine to use. You don't need to do anything to clean magnetic brakes as long as there isn't an abnormal debris visibile on the inner rings. You can simple wipe them clean /w a qtip or swap and you're fine. I have a swap cut to size for various ring widths and wipe around the area to make sure it's clean. That's all you need to do.

Finally Giving-up on BASS MAFIA BAIT COFFIN 3700 - Any Terminal Tackle Storage Recs?
I put the same liner on the lid of one of my 3700 bass mafia coffins I use for terminal tackle. I've been using them for years and years and have not had a single failure /w the boxes.

New JDM Daiwa Baitcasters (Zillion,Alphas,Steez Limited)
it's a 2 stage induction rotor. I believe the spring design, based on just pictures and a couple videos, is more of a V shape rather than a traditional "I I" shape. The idea is it will brake better at slower speeds and it will be more a long casting spool at higher speeds/more force exerted but still have the same SV control .

New Zilluon 1000
There's actually dedicated threads to each of the 3 new reels over there. I've only heard a couple things about a US release that is supposed to be, allegedly, February. It won't be cheaper when the Zillion comes over stateside anyway or not likely at least. Cheapest you'll find it is overseas. There's a couple places stateside that will likely have fairly close to the overseas price though.

New Zilluon 1000
Page or two back theres a discussion about it. Also quite a large thread in tackletour about all 3 of daiwas new reels coming out this month if you want some good info on the new spool.

Replacing gears in casting reels
lower pinion bearing would be the first thing to look at.

Replacing gears in casting reels
Yes, always replace them as a set when needed.

Problems with Tatula Ct
Remove the spool and turn the handle. You should hear a buzz/grinding noise in a tatula CT with the spool out. The reason is because pinion is moving around without support from the spool shaft that locks the pinion in place. When you out your spool back, and if you hear that same noise, its because the spool isnt seated and the pin is rubbing the bottom of the pinoin. The spool should be dead center and not further one direction or another. Tighten the cast control knob to remove the slop.

Reel Malaise
Anytime I need gear sets, the first place I always check with is the tackle trap. If they don’t have it, I order it from PLAT overseas.

New JDM Daiwa Baitcasters (Zillion,Alphas,Steez Limited)
I personally think the Td-Z was the best palming reel that's ever been made. It's really hard to believe Daiwa went away from it when the reel itself, technologically, was so far ahead of its time back when it came out in 05 (ish). A close second is the steez svTW and it's variants (steez ATW and Morethan PETW), palming wise. crazy comfortable /w how small it is. Obviously can't say for certain what the zillion feels like until I get my hands on it but from the videos it looks very similar to the Td-Z form. The only thing I'm curious about is the hyperdrive digi hear. The current Steez SVTW variants use a duralumin gear that, while aluminium, is very, very strong and among the smoothest gear sets i've used to date. The conquest might edge it a hair but it's close. I'm really hoping they use the same gears in these reels.

Reel Malaise
I ordered an a ton of them from amazon from an RC car parts store. You can search 4x7 shims on amazon and look around. The easiest way to source OEM Daiwas, that I can think of, is contacting Bryan and the TackleTrap. They'll likely be able to sell you some as a Daiwa authorized dealer/repair shop.

New JDM Daiwa Baitcasters (Zillion,Alphas,Steez Limited)
If you were to ask about the 2014 steez LTD, i'd be able to give you quite a few differences from the stock one. But this one, relative to it's count part the steez SVTW, looks like it's just a paint scheme and spool upgrade. I love the steez SVTW and the spool in it but no way am i shelling out the 600$ JDM price they're asking for this.

Reel Malaise
yes, you can shim the handle grips and put 2 bearings in each knob to help /w a smooth retrieve. There's a few different sizes daiwa uses. handle slop drives me crazy as well.

Reel Malaise
All good. There's more tatula variants than alot of people realize in general. To answer your original question, there's very little difference in the Fuego CT and Tatula CT aside from the TWS. I've tuned and polished, upgrade lvlwind bearings and flushed everything in Fuegos and Tatula CT's for people and they are casting machines and butter smooth. They respond very well to a polish/tune/bearing upgrade. The only downfall to the CT series of reels is their gears. They aren't super great quality but they're very cheap (30$ for a set) to replace. If you want to stay sub 150$, do that rather than spending extra. You're not going to see a real performance difference, on the Daiwa side, until you get to the zillionSV.

Reel Malaise
Tatula 100 and Fuego CT aren't the same reel. You're thinking of the Tatula CT and the Fuego CT. The Tatula 100 is a significantly different/smaller frame and different spool.

Shallow cranking line...
I really like Sunline FC crank. Very similar to Sunline Reaction. Great stuff for my shallow squarebills and flatsides.
