Could be worse. About 7 yrs ago a snow plow took out the fire hydrant that sits about 30 feet from my front door. Water was shooting up a good 10 ft in the air. That night it froze and the sidewalk was a ice skating rink.

I'll take that over an extended winter I've been living in. My arthritis can't take many more cold days.

Quitting smoking is a big plus. Kudos on that. I know it wasn't easy to do. I did it about 20 yrs ago and to this day still get the urge. Also giving up soda made a huge impact on stopping my pants from shrinking.

After a beautiful weekend with temps in the mid 50's today I woke up to 4 inches of snow. Just when I was getting ready to start my fishing season this happens. aaaarrrrgggghhhhhhh!

Catch and keep can actually benefit a fishery. I've suggested to political appointees on the PA fish & boat commission that to help solve the overpopulation of perch in local lakes they allow and promote catch and keep tournaments for perch. Maybe even offer small prizes like donated tackle or clothing. Instead they have extended the time period for keeping lakes water levels lowered in the winter. By not allowing the lakes to fill in early spring they figure the weeds that support populations of perch will not grow as abundant and the perch won't multiply as much. Problem is neither do the bass and pickerel that feed on perch. And with lower populations of fish, there are less people fishing. Vicious cycle.

Walmart has lost its dang mind with these deals. I was helping my brother out today when I traveled down to Delaware to fix his car. On my way back I stopped off at a Walmart in Parkesburg to pick up some duct tape for a project of my own. While I was there I checked out their fishing section. In the back of the aisle, in a box, where 3 Z Man Project Z chatter baits. I wasn't sure how much they cost so I took one up to the register and asked the guy to scan it. When he told me I ran back and grabbed the other 2.

IMO water temps are more important than moon phases here in the still chilly NE of the USA. So a full moon to me is basically....

Another Walmart clearance find Seaguar floro was $3, Spiderwire floro was $2.50 and all 3 packs of hooks were $2 each. Keep telling myself that I don't need anything else and Walmart keeps telling me I'm wrong.

Skin hooked unless its a flipping style hook. Those get buried mainly because of the hook set being stronger.

I was surprised Reese won. I would have bet more on Aaron Martens. It was a great season.

You're right Tom. Most of the lakes/rivers I fish have predominately either SMB or LMB. I've heard of LMB grouping up but only from pro anglers on t.v. Never actually witnessed it.

LOUISIANA - It's likely the most Louisiana thing you'll see today. A video posted on Twitter by user Skinny Vinny shows a crawfish clinging to a beer can and smoking a cigarette. Obviously, the crawfish isn't really smoking a cigarette. But when the crawfish picks up the cigarette in its claw it gives the illusion that it's smoking.
