  1. Haven't tried them but heard good things about Damiki Armor Shad Paddle Tails and on TW they are only $6 for a 10 pack. Could be worth a shot. Also I like the more natural color selection. If you fish clear water they might be what you are looking for.
  2. Brand doesn't matter at all to me. Price does! If I can find a bait that does the same thing as more expensive brands, I buy it. Jerk baits and jigs are a perfect example of this. Also I've been lucky enough to get baits that are very expensive now for a cheaper price when the company changed the lure or discontinued them. Like when the were selling Terminator Titanium spinner baits for 2 bucks each. I got plenty of those.
  3. Have any of you seen largemouths following smallmouths in when you caught a smallmouth? To me that was odd behavior. I've never hooked a LMB and had other LMB follow in like SMB do commonly.
  4. Just got a report of guys catching walleyes on minnows now that the river calmed down. Mostly shore fishing or wading. No sign of the smallmouths yet. Still a bit to chilly for them yet.
  5. Back many years ago I fished a local lake. To call it a lake is a stretch, to some it would be a large pond. If you stand on the shore of the narrowest part you can cast half way across the lake. Its also not a very deep lake. Its illegal to take a boat on it so I don't know how deep it is exactly but, from dragging lures across the bottom, I would say its no more than 10 ft at its deepest. It was always a trout stocked lake (put & take) but decades ago someone put some largemouth bass in there and they reproduced and became fat and health. About 10 yrs ago a friend who also fishes the lake told me he saw smallmouth bass in the lake. I thought he was nutty. In my defense, my friend once told me that he believed there was a carburetor that could get 100 miles to the gallon and the government had the patent and wouldn't allow it to be produced. So I had reason to be skeptical of what he said he saw. Anyway, after fishing there one day I hooked a nice largemouth and as I was bringing it in I notice a smallmouth following it. We who have fished for smallmouth know this is nothing unusual. But what was unusual was the largemouth behind the smallmouth following the largemouth I had hooked. When I got the largemouth to the shore both the SMB and LMB scattered. After apologizing to my friend for not believing him, I remember mentioning to him that I had seen SMB follow other SMB that were hooked but never seen the same from LMB. Did the LMB take on the characteristics of the SMB? If so why? Has anybody else seen similar behavior in SMB and LMB together? Has anybody seen both species together in a non-aquarium type setting?
  6. I'm picturing something like this..... Only with baitcasters.
  7. If you are looking for a slow top water bait I would go for something like a torpedo-type bait. Any bait like that will allow you to slow it to a crawl. It floats and makes a similar buzzing. All traditional buzz baits sink so you can only move it slow to a point and then it drops.
  8. Where do they put the hooks on that thing? Looks like MegaBass has some competition.
  9. Wish I lived in your town.
  10. We "remember you" Glenn. You're the guy that runs this forum.
  11. Always amazed at the number of pro anglers that come out of Alabama. Hard to not pick a roster that is mostly made up of Alabamians.
  12. Watched a youtube video of surf fishermen using them and it didn't seem all that difficult. Toughest part of the video was the guys Basstan accent.
  13. Its the meta-phasic shielding that is causing the problem. If the harmonizer is quadradic then you need to overpeak the pasmat.
  14. Who doesn't? And I'm still trying to find out which part of the chicken the "nuggets" actually are. I asked a chicken farmer and he just walked away shaking his head.
  15. 10 big time. Love Velvet Underground. My favorite version of Sweet Jane.
  16. You don't look a day over 69 and 3/4. Happy early birthday big guy.
  17. La pêche était bonne mais les pêcheurs sentaient mauvais.
  18. Try adding some weight by using lead and balancing out the lure. SuspenDots or strips will add some weight along with heavier hooks and split rings.
  19. ROAD TRIP!!!!!
  20. I remember seeing them when I would be out hunting. Never knew they were snow fleas. Like others I've seen them in footprints in the snow and they can look like pepper thrown on the ground. Also I have seen them in the dead of winter.
  21. Man I wish I was younger. Caught the hiking bug too late in life to do some of the best climbing. Now I just take some of the easy trails locally.
  22. Spinner bait or Senko. Keep it simple. Moving bait or bait barely moving.
  23. ^^^^This.
  24. What's that in American money? Like a buck fitty?
