  1. If I was gonna pick only one to take to a pond or lake and only one. It would have to be a swim jig. Can swim, pitch, drag, hop it. You name it. probably use a dead action trailer incase they want subtle. But then could always Alabama shake it to make it have the action they may want.
  2. I mean that sounds pretty good
  3. I agree with this. And I have a decent chunk collection hahaha. But mostly for cold water early spring. That said the paca chunk just never did it for me lol
  4. I just got a pack today in falcon lake craw. I’ve had some good success with a rage bug as a jig trailer. I figured I’d try some of these. I see a lot about them. And my other craws are mostly chunk style trailers. Are you Texas rigging them or using them as a jig trailer?
  5. Exactly. There’s bigger one lurking. And ive fooled a few this year. But they are wise to lures it seems. (Rightfully so) and intense pressure on these ponds doesn’t help. Yesterday morning I was all alone when I fish before work from about 8:30-10:30 give or take. It’s great. Last night when I went with the neighbor and every evening I pass them all going home. They will be loaded with all kinds of people. Live worms, minnows, lures. Kids throwing stuff in the water. Slapping lures against the surface to get pond scum or grass off lol. It’s so funny the difference.
  6. Well thank you very much. I was pretty happy. That’s a good fish for where I fish lol. My neighbor wasn’t so thrilled though.
  7. Got home from work and my wife said the neighbor came over and asked if ya want to go fishing? I’ve talked fishing a lil with him but never gone. So I met him at one of my normal spots. 3rd cast on the same black and blue swim jig as this morning. Got this one. Definitely the biggest I’ve caught in a month or better. Sorry for the dorky pic with me in it haha. I never have anyone with me to snap a picture. Needless to say I think black and blue and rage bug trailers is a confidence bait now haha.
  8. lol I get it. I don’t blame ya
  9. Lol! It was worth it. Idk I guess I don’t mind the heat. And I’m going to work at 11am anyway to work outside. So going and sweating some before is just meh
  10. Had a great morning. Overcast and raining. Been raining since last night. The ponds were up about a foot. And every cast you made to high potential spots hooked up. Under a tree, flip next to a drain pipe, work close to shore, cast into a drain dumping into the pond. Caught 18 in a couple hours. As usual nothing huge. But a great morning. On a black and blue jig with a rage bug trailer. And a 75 Choppo top water. This is for you @Bazoo with your recent posts on interest in jig heads. This is a @Siebert Outdoors sniper 5/16 in black blue with a rage bug trailer. I caught them swimming it, hopping off the bottom and dragging it on the bottom with pauses. Don’t let the head style limit you. All of them work for a lot of things man!
  11. I have a 7’ M combo with 7.5.1 reel. I think they are nice reels. Rods aren’t bad at all. That said I do think they are overpriced for what ya get At retail price picking them up used they aren’t bad at all. Mine collects dust now. i sold my 7’ MH combo a couple months ago actually.
  12. Man! Good even Keith poche put a hurting on them fishing shallow in a tin boat. Absolutely love him and so happy he won. He’s having a great year
  13. Very well said
  14. Any jig head can do anything you want. It may not do it the best but it will do it. Don’t overthink it. Arky style heads are a really really good All around jig. you’d be surprised how well a swim jig works for all around. I get a ton of fish hopping and dragging the bottom with a swim jig. It’s very versatile and I don’t have to carry a ton of jigs with me.
  15. Dang gotta love that. And I totally understand everything you just said lol.
  16. That’s good to hear. I may have to go back to the doctor then. And see what they say
  17. Oh god that sounds horrible. Man I hope it doesn’t come to that. I’m 37 but 20 years in this field has been dang hard on my body lol. Wild to think I have so many more to go. I’d love to avoid surgery. I need to look up the stretches and exercises
  18. That had to have been tough! Both surgeries at the same time. But I get knocking it out in one shot. I’ve had the shots in my foot before and I really dont enjoy them haha. And that’s funny I’m gonna start saying that about the straps
  19. Oh wow! Thank you for the advice! I had a flare of it like 6 years ago. And now again this year for the last 3-4 months. Doctor told me they hate to do shots for that issue anymore. I guess they found it can cause issues? He suggested the strap and ibuprofen. I’m a diesel mechanic/welder. So it’s in about a constant 5-6 pain lol. He said I could come back and we could try a steroid pack. I think I may have to try that honestly.
  20. Thanks for the link Glenn. I have a brace. But it’s not that nice and small I like that! I’m gonnna have to order one. I’m hoping mine heals up over winter
  21. I’ve got tennis/golf elbow. Never played either of those. So no bing and muscling casts out there isn’t a thing if I wana fish more than an hour. Ya just need nice smooth casts on properly rated equipment. I catch more fish close to shore than I ever do bombed out there lol
  22. 95 here in Iowa. And blue bird sky’s. I’m from Florida so I’m used to it. But it sucks lol. Oddly enough we have steady 25 mph winds since yesterday and till Monday
  23. That explains why when I found that one plopper on the bank made by Westin I couldn’t find much about them online. I didn’t know they came in mystery tackle boxes.
  24. Just scrolled that. There’s some good stuff!
