My pond is kind of opposite from you it has little or no structure and a bunch of rip raps with no grass except on the bottom. I have been working an x rap from shoreline to shoreline and that has been producing big time. The soft plastic bite has died off so I think they are in a fall pattern already and are feeding on the baitfish.

Most anglers start out with either spinning or spincasing equipment so naturally they start reeling with their left hand. Once switching to baitcasting it is very hard to switch and start reeling with your right hand. I am with ReelMech and RoLo my baitcasters are lefty retrive and all my future ones will be. Why change something when you don't have to. Most established reels offer a left hand retrieve reel unless the reel is just coming out.

I like topwaters and defenitly think they will catch big bass. It's kind of like a senko, it will catch a bunch of little bass and every now and then a big one as well. All the bigger bass in the pond by my house are mostly caught on topwaters and every now and then the occasional senko or fat ika. I prefer a popping type bait over a walk the dog bait for topwater as far was getting the bigger fish. I think the big fish like the splash and it attracts them.

good stuff Roger... For me, dusk is my favorite time to fish but mostly because its the only times I really get to fish unless on weekends. I will tkae any low light condition but like dusk better because I don't have to get up early and the bass are just as active.

Anyone watch the angler on tour T.V. show, I have been watching it the whole season and its a great shoe. Really shows you how brutal not making the cut can be. It seems Joe Thomas misses the cut by 8 oz. every time.

Hope it is a huge sucess, when I get older this is something I am defenitly going to do.

another vote for grilled salmon, I like mine with a lot of salt too...

thats the simplest way to catch a bass without using live bait I can think of. Rw is right it almost is guaranteed fish if there are bass in the palce you are fishing. That is how I started out and I am sure many others have started out like this as well.

I got one, I was fishing on the docks by my locla lake one time without a boat just right from the docks. i was just skipping a senko as far under as I could get it and just let if fall to the ground. I had caught a couple two pounders the day before doign this and that is why I was back again this day. I dropped the bait under, let it sink to the bottom, then went to reel up my slack. As I did this, I felt a huge tug and my rod was amlost ripped out of my hands and right now my pole is almost underneath the dock. I had to quikcly un lock down my drag and loosen it up. The fish took line all the way to the other side and I had to try to pull him back onto my side. I got him back on to my side of the dock and he then tryed to jump(too big and fat to do so) and I saw the biggest mouth I have ever seen on a largie. I immediatly went into panic mode and just really screwd up and tryed to muscle the fish in. As I did this he quickly pulled awy from me when I wasnt expecting it and snapped my line right off. I just collapsed to the ground and layed there while my fishing buddie tryed to console me. It was tough... but the next day I went there I landed a 7.3, my PB of the year. Who knos how big that fish was?

surprised no one mentioned my dock rig, a fat ika!!! They nail that thing the second you skip it under the dock, the farther in the better like always.

I like to get down low and reel while kneeling, as soon as I feel a fish coming up I get down and then you can still keep pressure on the fish while being low and also makes it easier to land them when they get up to the boat. But in general just keep your rod down and they won't jump too often on you, but every now and then you will get a fiesty guy that still insists on jumping, in that case just hope you got a good hookset on him.

I am like that during the winter because up here in NY there is a little bass fishing wrecker called ice and I am only able to go ice fishing like once a month. I know what you are saying. Sitting in school during a sunny day kills me too.

This is also posted in my fishing tournament or outing but I just wanted to thank these guys for coming up with the great idea of the bait package contest and wanted to let everyone know that I recieved them and put them to good use with me and my buddy as we hit a 4 1/2 pounder and a 6.4 with these baits and it was a very fun night. Here is a pic of the 4 1/2 and my buddys fish was taken by people walking by and they haven't sent us it in the email yet.
