  1. I have the same rod and I find the reel seat uncomfortable unless I choke up on it with 3 fingers in front. I would handle it first to see if you like it. The casting rods are great though
  2. There's a difference between primary and secondary stability. I used to jump up and down in my ride 115. It is very stable. I'm 180lbs
  3. I agree. I use rage and premier rods on the kayak. The rage casting rods are my favorite. Not a huge fan of the rage spinning reel seats though
  4. This past weekend I caught a bunch in some retention pond on the ned rig Two Saturdays ago had some success on Long with chatters and wacky senkos including this fatty
  5. Can you share how you made that work?
  6. boomerangs for me. too easy to lose braid scissors especially when kayak fishing. have one for my boat tackle box, one for my shore backpack and one attached to my kayak PFD. haven't experience any dulling myself but even if I did they are cheap enough to replace
  7. I swear one of the most common kayak question asked on forums and facebook is "what's the best kayak under $300 for someone over 300lbs" ?
  8. another vote for sufix siege 12lb on a baitcaster. usually use trliene xl 8lb on spinning.
  9. Northern Wisconsin has no minimum length to keep pike. I've noticed several of the fishing shows I watch that are taped in Wisconsin and Minnesota are really pushing anglers to keep and eat pike instead of walleye. They even have demonstration on how to fillet and remove the y bones. Pike do taste just as good as walleye IMO. Lake perch is my favorite though
  10. Have you looked at the Eyecon 7ft ML rod? I love the reel seat and foregrip on the Eyecon. It's a good ned rig and grub rod. Only downside is that it's not made in the USA
  11. Isn't the friction of sliding the kayak burning the foam?
  12. A cheap or old rubber backed bath mat works as well and is easier than using a strap like he does
  13. Don't overlook the Premier line if you want a good quality rod made in the USA.
  14. St Croix 2 piece rods cost $10 more than 1 piece. I believe they are all sold out of the 1 piece gray rods, thats why it looks like they are more than the purple rods
  15. BPS had pro qualifier rods on sale for $60 now. Get a 6'6" Medium and pair that with a 30 size pflueger president XT for $80
  16. Yeah he has a minnkota bow mount with spot lock on it. To me that's too far and more than just propulsion. PS I have a Lund with spot lock but I also kayak fish
  17. You're the one missing the point. He is saying that all things being equal, both collecting sales tax, TW has better prices and would rather support them than BPS
  18. The guy who finished second in the kbf national championship fished from this
  19. I hate to break it to you but you're in the 1% of people that actually reported internet sales tax. even accountants recommended not listing anything
  20. The new jonny boat is perfect for you https://jonnyboats.com/
  21. It's 100% a solo plastic jon boat, even the name says so. it just happens to be made by a kayak company (feel free) and is legal by KBF standards as long as they are sponsored by Torqueedo and allow motors.
  22. 8lb trilene XL. Put the spool in a cup of warm water and it gets rid of the memory.
  23. Regardless of paddle shaft material, make sure the blades are a large size designed for a heavy fishing kayak.
  24. The Reign rods are 2 for $100 today or $69 with a reel. Basically a triumph with foam grip. https://stcroixrods.com/collections/rod-shopper If you don't like that reel seat, you'll like the eyecon series
