Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
If an item you've been purchasing for years is still the same price it has been...I suggest stocking up. The chompers rock walker jighead is still $5.49 a 4 pack, so I stocked up. They have a collar/bait keeper so they can be used alone or skirted. The dual wire weed guard is perfect, and I think looks like craw whiskers.

Freshwater Gear Nightmare
I wish I thought higher end gear was a waste of money. BPS Spring Classic/trade-in deal is still on....just grab a combo with the rod power/taper you feel is adequate.

Store shipped wrong rod. Should I keep it?
Since you are dealing with grass, they might have sent you the rod you need.

Any experience with weedless Ned's ?
All the Brewer heads are good...

Received my fishing skirts unlimited order. Those big 100 tab bags were on sale for $8 ..BW was $10. I love making my own jigs....my 70 strand skirts are the shizz. I'll post some finished products in the tacklemaking section soon.

Bomber…….thing of the past? Bass fishing?
Love me some model A's. Cabelas has the A's for $3.99 right now....let me recommend the model 4a (2 1/8"-5/16oz)...it's a highly underrated crank that compares to the bandit 200. https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/bomber-model-a-crankbait?ds_e=GOOGLE&ds_c=Shop|CAB|TopPerformers|Fishing&gclid=Cj0KCQjw0PWRBhDKARIsAPKHFGhlABkeZFt-_ft_VTa6rcewkZc4xWqpDRMr911VanLi5KKoJZnC5ogaAqMBEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

Yep....I purchased a boat load of their finesse jigs for a steal at Sierra. Good products...

Daiwa Steez vs Zillion can you share your recommendation?
Im not a fan of the ergonomics of the standard Steez. That's opinion, but it's a fact the U.S. Zillion has brass gears and would make a better moving bait reel. If you already have the Zillion 'G', how about a Zillion HD? If you go Steez...get the CT.

Which High End Reel would you recommend...
With the dollar fetching over 118 yen, I'm getting ready to do some overseas stockpiling myself. Do you have any of the non-dc antares? I am considering adding an antares this year, and was looking at the standard antares 70. I wonder which one gets better distance bombing moving baits.

Items you'd least want to fish without ?
My Needlenose, a 32oz gatorade, a king size payday, a slime towel, and my dugout filled with something uplifting ?.
-
First moving bait after ice out..
Our lakes don't freeze here in OK, and water is mostly stained....so a slow rolled spinnerbait gets the nod. White tandem w/ flo red kicker blade.

That ONE LURE
Agreed. Also why I still prefer the original sweet beaver.

New Shimano crankbaits in hand
I almost purchased several of these from japan last year. Glad I didn't...they are cheaper here in the states. I also thought they were wood baits. Look nice though....I just have so many new cranks that I probably won't get to fish them all this year anyway ?

I'm not trying to be a wise guy either, but I thought bass just see the bottom of your topwater plug.

Daiwa Tatula TW 80
Japan Lure Shop has these in stock. $135.

Why Kayak over Bass Hunter/Pelican?
I can see a small kayak on s stream/creek...guess I was thinking more of the pond/lake fisherman.

Why Kayak over Bass Hunter/Pelican?
I have been a Pelican Bass Raider owner for over 20 years now....upgrading from an 8' to a 10' a few years ago. I don't feel like my fishing is limited at all....I stand up and work my baits like I would in any other larger boat. Watching kayak fishing grow immensely in the last decade, I've been wondering why you would want the limited space and manuverability that a kayak gives you. Looks to me like both require a truck bed to haul around. Thoughts?

Is your zillion usdm or jdm? I'm asking because I want reassurance the brass gears on the U.S. models are also buttery smooth

Most sensitive rods
Really?! Wow....had the zenon on my radar. My old abu villains are sensitive...thought for sure the zenon would be great.

Discontinued lures that you wish would come back
Yamamoto 6" grubs....these are my go-to worms (it's essentially a fat worm). BPS beaver bug....it's like a beaver/tube hybrid, and the bass liked them (and they were cheap).

Show off your Stuff
Welcome aboard! You've got some nice rigs to start catchin' hogs with. You have several top contenders in the $200ish rod segment....I'm sure folks will want to know how they compare, especially in the sensitivity department.

Jason Christie winning lure?
Sweet....I caught the end of the sports coverage on the news and didn't see who won. Oklahoma pros have done well the past few years with Evers and now Christie winning classics. Looks like that jui-jitsu jig Christie used is just an arkie head w/ dimples.

Pline CXX
That's debatable. The 10lb at .014" is comparable to 16lb fluoro in strength and diameter. The 12lb is .0148" and probably breaks at close to 20lbs.
