  1. Different strokes for different folks, but I won't even let my reel's paint job touch the grass when I bank fish.
  2. Good vid. He said he was using fluoro, but it sounded like braid scream when he hooked a good fish at the end. Just picked up my first 'swim specific' jigs.
  3. Good luck dude. Spool/star drag/knobs is the extent of my reel customizing. I'm no mechanic....I end up with 'extra parts' when I get the reel back together. I can't be good at everything, lol.
  4. You can make your own....just drink 8-12 beers.
  5. They have been hit hard at TW....they are close to being sold out.
  6. A lure swap would be the shizz. I do have too much tackle, but I see all these dudes on American Pickers that have buildings of stuff...old crap they never intend on using. Makes me feel less guilty about my bookshelf of 3700's.
  7. It appears the only difference between the fantasista X and fantasista Premier is the handle.
  8. That weight surprises me. My 7-6M spinner showed up...just unwrapped it. If my cat didn't want to go outside, it may have stayed on the porch all nigjt. It is indeed balanced and feels 'tight and right'. I'm happy so far... Great...that is indeed an acceptable weight considering length/power/balance. My casting 7-6 will be here tomorrow.
  9. The ZPI PG spool is my favorite spool. I have a couple of '17 Tatula SV's with them, as well as a couple of steez reels with them. I don't see a drop in perfoance with the zpi Tatulas vs the steez. So when I saw that asian portal still had these spools for only $42....I jumped on it. I figured I'd pick up a pair of standard Tat's for a good price...nothing fancy. Then I saw Japan Lure still had the Megabass Rhodium...a reel everyone ignored because it was a $320 Tatula. However, with the exchange rate...they were down to $230. More than I planned on paying, but I thought why not...I'll be more proud of them. I really didn't know anything about them. In the website pic, they looked all black, so I was surprised when they showd up 2-tone. Also didn't know they had a tuned spool that will throw 4g's. So I've got one with the stock megabass spool to try out. Stock Tat sv spool vs rhodium spool Couple baits including a 2oz OSP bluegill squarebill Got a 110 type R as a free gift.
  10. I also rig my used senkos as chatter/spinnerbait trailers. I'll use my 5" senkos 3x at different lengths before they get too short....then it's trailer duty.
  11. Picking up some stuff you actually needed. What a refreshing idea.
  12. Shipping is free for $50+....but the tax thing is really hitting me. Seems like yesterday there was no tax on my online orders. JDM orders are the only tax free tackle these days I guess.
  13. I ordered the 7-6m spin and 7-6mh casting. I've heard good things. TW reviews are swaying for sure.
  14. I'm a mix of excess and frugalness. My frugal side gets going on TW's clearance page. I see baits that are such a good deal, I think 'I'll make it happen with those at that price'. Just placed my summer sale order and picked up a few that were too cheap to pass up. $17/100ct Yum dingers. For .17 cents each....I'm going to wacky/shakey/neko them. I'll make'em work $2.48 Jackal flick shake 9.8" pumpkin pepper. Too big for shakey/neko....I'll male'em work on a c-rig/t-rig. $5.48 Bagley B"s. Sure they ain't what they used to be, but they are good enough for $5 and change. Anyone else pick some stuff up they normally wouldn't because of the cheap price?
  15. Those must be some super salty turds....they weigh a lot for the size. More salt= more/easier tearing. Doesn't stop us from using senkos I guess.
  16. KP Duty replied to papajoe222's topic in Fishing Tackle
I bet...1/2oz is light for punching. This guy was pitching wood (no pun intended).

Glenn posted a vid of a pro speaking about pitching, and he said he always uses a baby d bomb with a pegged 1/2oz sinker. I thought "He is appatently going for the reaction bite and trying to cover water....that thing probably falls 5ft a second".
  18. The 'croix heavy will have noticeably more power than the Loomis 4 power. I used glx 844's as my primary jig/worm, frog, and c-rig rods for many years. I'd get the Loomis for it's taper....can do 3/16oz on up.
  19. I'm normally a speed craw man. I do use some of those 3" rage ned craws and lobsters for certain situations. So get both ?
  20. Something you don't ever read about on the forums is what to look for in an EWG hook. Hook point above the line tie is paramount.
  21. I'd get an abu fantasista on sale @ TW...as mentioned above. I purchased the 7'6" M spinning rod last night.
  22. I wondered if you would find it too soft. As a straight copoly/fluoro fisher... I tend to prefer more powerful rods. You can always repurpose the sleeper.
