  1. ooo nice, is it true you're allowed to fish from the golf course side after closing?
  2. Alot of people like to fish off the pontoon boats, easier to cast and move from one than a kayak. You can also mount a trolling motor on them too. I think there's one being sold in the Richmond craigslist
  3. Went there today (Mon) and hit 4...3 on a tube and 1 on a heddon torpedo. Some guy was telling me he pulled a 12lber from there...
  4. The does make alot of sense, needing some kind of license for the tranquilizer use, if not I'm sure someone could find a way to get high off it or something, I like the camera idea but I've always wanted to take one of those pictures holding the antlers of the deer
  5. No tracking needed =P Fast acting sedative? something that works within 5 seconds or less if you hit in a vital area?
  6. Anyone ever think of "catch-and-release" deer hunting? I've always wanted to go hunting but I've never been too interested in Vvenison or having trophy heads on my wall. Is there anything like a tranquilizer gun deer hunting thing? I wouldn't mind tranq-ing a deer running up to it, snapping a picture and running away before it wakes. Sounds like fun to me!
  7. Thanks for the input Vic, I think I might throw down for an Orvis class we a big one here in Richmond. I try looking back at my backcast sometime but then I end up being like the teen drives who's parents tell them to look before the change lanes and the entire car swerves...turning seems to make the rod swing to the direction i'm looking =/ When I have been able to look back my line seems to be wavy...I think it's from the tip vibrating when I stop, I'm not sure...But I'll definitely look into getting a coach!
  8. Thanks for the tip James! I think I'll give it a shot sometime Tuesday
  9. Looks like I need to stop by there and ProTech! mmm...megabass rods......must not....be tempted....
  10. I live in that area and have fished the lakes. They have small bass, nothing spectacular. If you drive down the rode into Wyndam and fish the lake at the Dominion Club, there are big bass and catfish. My friend pulled a 9 pounder out of the lake and the biggest catfish there is 45 pounds. I've caught 2-3lbers there at innesbrook, Do you need membership or anything to fish the Domino club?
  11. Awesome post! I've always wanted to catch a double digit striper.
  12. I did the same when were we out last weekend...squatting under the bushes trying to flip into overhangs...Andrew laughed at me =( I had no idea how I was gonna set the hook anyways, lol
  13. I've recently been fishing the local james river for small mouth...I'm having so much trouble with my casting.... Fished 8 hours straight for 2 days and have crazy blisters =/ (hence the glove on the second day). My line seems to hit the water first all the time then the fly flicks over and hits the water, my friend says I'm holding the rod too hard, flicking it too hard and not waiting long enough....trying to work on it but it's hard! I did hook up into a few smallies though a bunch of dinks but one of them was about 1lb or so I was fighting him for about 5 mins but with the river current, the fish struggling and the high rock I was on I think the hook ripped out. Any tips or hints you guys could share =D?
  14. Yep you definitely spoke to the right guy, Rob has his fishing info down pat =D
  15. About 2 years ago I bought a huge lot of 3/0 -5/0 ewg superline worm hooks for pretty cheap. I'm starting to run low. Where do you guys get your hooks from? Are there other brands besides Owner or Gamakatsu that makes quality hooks for less? Thanks!
  16. I snapped a BPS extreme rod last fall all I did was bring it in and they gave me the option of exchanging for another rod or putting the amount on a gift card. So if you have plenty of rods or wish to upgrade to another rod that they have see if they'll let you choose the giftcard option
  17. I fish the MF jerkbait rod and use it as my all purpose one. It's a great rod sensitive and light (though not much more than the Avid for the extra $). The split grip felt weird for me at first also but now I don't even notice, it wasn't a very difficult adjustment.
  18. Yep its a great deal, I ordered a couple to keep handy for night fishing with my friends.
  19. Found this on Slickdeals, it's a pretty cheap quality cap light, but I see the same things at BPS/Cabelas/local tackle shops for $6+ all the time. With free shipping, I'm buying a couple for backup night fishing. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.4791~r.53733725
  20. Luckly I've never had a tick on me...*knock on wood* but that deal with the soap seems like a neat trick. Looks like I'll try and fish with some long pants from now on when going into woods. great thread too by the way, I wouldn't have known what to do with a tick on me. Also does anyone know if you can use any type of soap?
  21. that's pretty cool, beats spending 40+ for one of those rod tubes
  22. Try the Improved Albright knot (also known as Alberto knot) I've been using this one exclusively. It's not difficult to tie once you get the hang of it and it's STRONG. I use the trilene 100% pro fluoro at 8lb and i've never broken off at the leader. The terminal knot (Imp cinch) will break before the leader knot.
  23. What's your opinion on the drag of your Curado?
  24. d@mn, If I were in NoVa I'd take that offer in a heartbeat.
  25. Thanks guys I'll give that a shot! Now just to learn how to cast and tie that darn nail knot...
