I got a new driveway so I’ve got that going for me.

Not bass, but still wicked cool.
I was fishing for Black Sea bass at Neah Bay and had a small, 28 foot blue whale swim right under the boat. I love watching birds when fishing. There are egrets, bald eagles, ducks, geese, gulls, osprey and my favorite, red wing black birds. Seeing wild life is frosting on the cake!

What color do you use in this situation?
My local lake does this. It’s algae and impacts oxygen levels. As far as plastics go, black neon works. A wire chartreuse spinnerbait the gold rear blade slow rolled. Good luck!

Show off your Stuff
Sold a Flippin rod so I grabbed an Edge EFX Pro 766C . Note the lock nut on this series. Tighten it and it stays tight.

Mowing: How it started & how it's going...
When I bought my home in 1988 I was thrilled with my front and back yards. We had a beautiful spruce in the front, hemlock on the east side, two spruce and two cedars in the back. I worked my tail off to make the lawn nice, planted an apple tree and 37 ferns. Trees grow. I’ve had to take out all but the cedars and apple. Stumps were ground and all my bordering neighbors don’t do squat to their yards so clover and other noxious weeds make having a healthy lawn. Grand children play so I mow, water and fertilize once a year. My park is gone but the memories are still fresh.

What are you favorite jigs?
Sieberts. Mike’s jigs w are awesome. If he doesn’t have a style to cover your needs no one does. His brush jigs and live rubber flipping jigs are standouts. His color options are fantastic. Well you get it. When jigs meet perfection.

Vibrating Jig hookup suggestions....
Remember, unlike a spinnerbait which has no hinge or loose connection points, a vibrating jig has at least two. My experience is spinnerbait fish practically hook themselves. The bladed jig style baits can rock and pivot, even to the level the blade can be tipped back in the plane of the hook point. These movements will inhibit or even prohibit hook penetration. And if you do set the hook and penetrate tissue, the lure’s penchant to pivot and move at two hinge points can assist the fish throwing the bait. Kind of sounds like big topwaters doesn’t it. For those reasons, I fish a rod with power but a moderate crankbait type action. The Alpha Angler Chatterbound and or Edge EFX Pro 706 Hybrid provide those attributes. My hook and land ratio is pretty darn good.

KastKing Baitcaster Quality?
I have no experience with Kast King. I do however have had Dobyns Mavericks for three years. I just received six from Amazon at 19.81 each. My club high school events will get these as prizes. The kids love them. And they are really good and reliable. Just saying.

What trailer?
Strike King Blade Minnow. You can cut a bite of the off to get the length you want. A Yamamoto twin tail can work but me best results have been in the spring. Share what you tried Katie and any results.👍👍

What’s your flipping stick?
Im not trying to hijack this thread but the history of rod making is much deeper. My information comes from former employees of both Lamiglas and the original Loomis, LCI, And G Loomis. Gary, whom I know but not well and Dick Posey were in business together. Both sought to develop graphite blanks. Sage was already marketing graphite and Fenwick was right on Sage’s heels. Lamiglas was a leader in glass blanks. Gary and Dick developed the Lamiglas graphite 1000 series. These were Steelhead and salmon models. There were some differing opinion as to the further development and Gary left Lamiglas to pursue his ideas. Rumor has it, rumor, some mandrels went with Gary. Gary established his new company, also in Woodland. That company was reformed at least twice. I purchased blanks that were Loomis and LCI, Loomis Composites and G Loomis back when building rods. I toured the tiny LCI production facility. I also had friends who worked for Gary and the Posey family. I had access to rods being made by or via Lamiglas for other companies including Kistler and prototypes for Skeet Reese and Gary Dobyns. The Posey family were instrumental in Dobyns getting off the ground. I will admit Gary Loomis has developed some of the most cutting edge technology in all of rod building and NFC/Edge is his baby. I give credit to Sage and Fenwick as much as to Dick and Gary. I’m a history buff at large. The story of Lamiglas and G Loomis is amazing. Hope folks appreciate the legacy.

What’s your flipping stick?
To clarify the issue of single haul line take up. The technique was designed or developed by Dave Gliebe and Dee Thomas. Google Dee and watch his video, Flippin With Dee Thomas. My first Flippin Stick was a straight handle, no trigger, Fenwick HMG telescoping model. Lamiglas jumped on the band wagon early in there Certified Pro series. I had two of them as well. Pool cues but they had triggered reel seats. Lamiglas produced that Cabelas model. There are many many anglers who flip. When distance is required they can pitch with the same combo. The history is amazing and many pros, Denny Braun, Gary Klein and Shaw Grigsby made a career flipping. Boy this thread morphed.
