I picked up a BFS set up. We essentially fish a derivation of BFS in the 80’s. Short limp wanger rods on Abu 1500C reel with 10 pound Strength for small stuff. Left that deal long ago but, late August and September are notorious for small schooling fish so I grabbed a two piece and a reel with two spools. One with 5 and the other with 7. My brother in law has two small lakes near his place and this will work for that perfectly. Here we go again.😁

We have stick baits , turds and poop baits so how about a pickle bait? Multiple sizes? Colors could be, sweet pickle, kosher dill, green gerkin, hot & spicy, bread and butter, relish and cucumber. I’m in as long as you can skip it.

I’ve been buying rods and reel for 50 years. I built rods for 15 years. I’ve seen like many of you, advancements in material, design and manufacturing capabilities I would have never imagined. I think you can get phenomenal reels from a hundred bucks up and once you hit that two hundred or so PP you might start seeing a diminished return. Rods are a bit different. There’s some great products sub one hundred fifty but my experience has show me the two hundred fifty range will get you a top tier stick. Shop hard, look for discounts and sales and you can get some upper tier rods at or near that ceiling.

There are off shore manufacturers that will gladly produce a reel and put your name on it for the right deal. It’s referred to as brand expansion. Be the frog.
