  1. There are smallmouth in Texas
  2. Douglas and Cherokee? Cool! All the water from those two lakes comes whizzing right by my house
  3. So is the glass half full of half empty?? Haha
  4. Ha!!! Good day after all
  5. Pure Appalachia
  6. This is how windy it was where I fished last night…….. got 3 cranking and couldn’t get anything on the worm, go figure
  7. Man we had some tough fishing after work this evening, tried for a while and got nothing but a skipjack. Used it as cut bait, got a few nibbles. After getting my cut bait and plastic worms stuck over and over and over and over, all I had left tied on was a spro rock crawler. The fish liked that! Got an 18” smallie and then a 17” and also a white bass
  8. Oklahoma is in its own category when it comes to wind from what I understand
  9. I don’t like wind either, never have
  10. Yep! That’s all I’ve tried with it so far is traps. Honestly feels like it could handle light T rig or shaky head too. Might try that after work this evening (queue the mad scientist laughter) granted, I think mine is heavier action than @Bluebasser86’s
  11. I tried the way he said to rig worms and every time I got a bite the whole worm came off the hook haha
  12. Knock on wood, praise be, I can still sit in my old aluminum canoe from sunrise to sunset on the longest day of the year. That’s bound to change soon but I may as well enjoy it while I can. I am a big fan of stretching, though I don’t stretch often enough. I wish I could hang upside down and un-kink my spine. i knew exactly what @GreenPig meant by “days when i could stand up straight” earlier. The days when my back hurts I can look in the mirror and see how crooked I’m standing, and I can’t correct it no matter what I try. Then next day it’s straight again???
  13. The aches and pains come when im not getting any bites
  14. Gotcha, thanks. The king spot is no longer made, I think they are all super spot now
  15. I fish with a lot of fellas that throw those old round red reels and they talk very fondly of the king spot (I’m guessing by cotton Cordell). Did the guy you fished with mention that bait at all? sorry for the hijack but I gots to know…. It works great for the butt section
  16. Were you above watts bar dam or below it? I’ve only launched below it and that boat ramp is not so good, always piles of broken glass and when the current is swift, a tricky launch/load. It’s also got black vultures that pull all the window and door rubber stripping off your vehicle
  17. Thanks for the report! Yeah I don’t go there much for that very reason
  18. I paddle a canoe solo all the time, but you sure can’t do it if you sit in the back. (Without counterbalancing with gear). I tried that before, the wind slammed me onto dry land and I couldn’t stop it. I pondered on it for a while and remembered someone telling me to sit in the front seat and paddle the boat “backwards” . It worked great and I was able to get back to the truck, I’ve used the front seat for solo paddling ever since. When you’re in the back solo, the front of the boat is too high above the water and catches even a slight breeze and will spin you around
  19. I got mine out on the water this evening. It will bomb a trap!!! Old school lure and old school reel, feeling retro this is the model I have
  20. One bass pattern is the years long story of the TN river, it happens to lots of the pros every time they fish it. Patterns seem cool to people but the fish don’t really care what we think.
  21. I say that’s a convenient myth because people want you to keep more of them. They all taste the same all the land around me is pretty scenery, you’ve gotta drive 3 hours to Atlanta before it runs out! Haha
  22. My buddies dad was ready to toss me overboard! I was a youngster and just saw something floating in the water, so naturally I cast out there and try to hook it. Well it was a nasty rotting chicken haha!!! I got in trouble for that one
  23. Dead chicken
  24. I like modifying lead round ball jig heads, depending on what kind of worm I’m putting on them. You can easily cut the lead with scissors or split ring pliers or a pocket knife
