  1. Found some at Stewart Creek our on the first ledge on a ned rig and chatterbait!
  2. Anyone have any suggestions for bank fishing near Nashville (or ideally near Smyrna)? Maybe within 30-45 minute drive (without traffic)? I am visiting some family and will have the day free tomorrow and Sunday so looking to catch a Tennessee bass!
  3. These are the only braid and monofilament I have seen this month and if my current path continues definitely the only I will see in the next 5 years and mostly only what I will see the rest of my working life. My stupid thought of the day is that maybe I’m making the wrong decision going into a surgical residency (and no the lack of fishing time isn’t the only or even close to the most important reason).
  4. Would absolutely NOT plan on pulling that boat with a Tacoma unless it were a one time situation across town or something. The truck will move the boat with no problem. Stopping will be the issue and will be unsafe.
  5. Just use live bait. You’ll probably catch more fish anyway. Haha
  6. Just run the new power. On the R70 the easiest way run the wire it is to remove the seat which is only two screws.
  7. Coincidentally convenient that your transducer busted after the announcement of Mega 360...
  8. I have the anti-glare on my helix units and they significantly reduce the glare. Not 100% but "worth it" better on a first time purchase.
  9. The axis cranks from 6th Sense look interesting.
  10. What the masses want is an entry-level spot lock trolling motor it was a good foot pedal for <$1,000. Doesn’t need to link or do anything fancy. Just hold position and have a good footpedal. That’s what would really sell.
  11. Megaware Keel guard GatorGuard Keelshield Hambys keelguard all are good options and have good warranty and will protect your keel
  12. Original cited manuscript published in 2011. Old news Stephen Cooke the shared first author of the original manuscript still continues to publish solid research on salmoides related to angling vulnerability. Lots of interesting data out there related to it.
  13. I prefer to fish alone. Oddly enough, I try to take someone with me as frequently as possible. Especially when it’s someone that doesn’t get to fish much from a boat. On some occasions I’ve been out in my boat I had planned to go trophy hunting but within minutes of leaving the ramp I found myself inviting a bank angler to the back of the boat. I don’t know why but I almost feel obligated to do so. Maybe it has something to do with the 30 years of longing to be fishing from a boat never thinking I would be doing so.
  14. When buying Huk there are multiple varieties. The version that had the back of the sleeves and the lower half of the back vented/meshed are the coolest of any shirt I’ve worn in my opinion. I have other Huk shirts (and other brands) that don’t have this meshing and they are substantially hotter. That’s not how the shirts work. Trust me, if you get a good shirt you will be substantially cooler. It will block the sun and remove the moisture and humidity on your body making you feel much cooler. You will still sweat about as much but you won’t notice it near as much. It’s kind of like being in Utah in 100 degree weather versus being in a Georgia swamp in 100 degree weather.
  15. 100% agree.
  16. Unfortunately, this model is the exception not the norm.
  17. No but their parents are. The market is targeted to spoiled upper middle class brats that get everything they want and follow every new fad that hits the market. Sorry, I usually keep opinions like this to myself, but I was at a local sporting goods once and they happened to be hosting one of the Googans and there were prebuscent mini-Justin Biebers everywhere. Literally thousands of them. What a great way to make some money! Maybe it will help the sport... but then again who really wants more fishing pressure? Haha
  18. Uuuuggghhhhhhh I was 18. Had bought a license the previous year in May for a float trip in the Ozark just in case I wanted to toss a line in. Well I hadn’t even thought about fishing until the next April when I somehow miraculously had about an hour to spare before work. Was taking 26 hours of upper level college credits and working a full time and part time job. I decided to stop by the creek and toss a little rebel grasshopper that was tied on a rod that was at the bottom of the trunk of my car. First cast I snag it and it breaks off near the bank. I’m all dressed for work leaning over the bank trying to get it back with my rod tip when I hear in a firm voice, “Excuse me son.” Of course it startled me and I fall face first into the creek and now I am soaked. The voice turned out to be the warden. He continued to ask me what I was doing and if I had my license. Of course I thought I did. First I checked my wallet and couldn’t find the paper copy, but he said he’d be willing to look me up by my drivers license. So he walked with me back to my car to get it. He looks it up and comes back and tells me it expired at the end of February. I argued that I had bought it in May, so it should have been good. Turns out I was wrong. Why in the heck would it make sense in this day for an annual license to expire at the end of February, especially in Missouri? I got a $75 fine, had to make a trip to the courthouse and had to go to work soaking wet. Not to mention a misdemeanor on my record that I had to explain in interviews for medical school and will have to explain during interviews for residency and probably for any job I ever have as a physician. At least it will make it easy to bring up my passion for fishing... I have absolutely no issue with buying a license, and if I would have known it was expired I would not have fished or would have bought one.
  19. Might be my last day to fish until August and it was a good one. Caught a ton on a jig and a Squarebill. Weights of the best 8 are pictured. Best 5 went 20.19, biggest was 5.42.
  20. Wherever you are getting this information is incorrect. Bass and pike can live together fine together. TONS of great smallmouth opportunities in Minnesota. Mille Lacs for example. Also I am sure lots of good largemouth opportunities too
  21. -Kansas dad Caught a channel on a whopper plopper -Missouri
  22. I don’t know if any of today’s graphs come with a thru-hull transducer out of the box. HOWEVER, with Humminbird units I know that you can exchange the transducer that comes in the box for a thru-hull for a small fee. My boat has a thru-hull that I had to change for. I love it. Optimum position. Let me know if you need more info.
  23. The rip rap on the road heading in to the powerplant in the bay west of the cove. Marked what definitely looked like some sort of tubes in about 15-19’ feet of water. Couldn’t buy a bite on topwater. Stuck at it for about 1.5 hours because the conditions seemed so perfect for it.
