  1. 24v 80lb will be plenty then, yep upgrade to that abs get spot lock and like someone already said, think about if you want MK or Lowrance to pair up with future fish finders. The additional features you gain like spot lock jog and contour autopilot are nice to have. Not 100% necessary but available with the proper planning of equipment.
  2. What’s your current TM?
  3. Two pedestal up front is a nice touch for crappie/vertical fishing. I wish my PVB had that feature.
  4. Ortho B Gone is is then, thanks!
  5. So my county stopped letting TrueGreen use the standard weed killer and they have to use natural stuff that isn't as effective. Now I'm getting patches of two types of grass that isn't tall fescue and they stick out like a sore thumb. Anyone know what kinds of grass/weed this is?
  6. You can send/receive SMS texts with a Google Voice number. It's free to sign up for it. https://voice.google.com/
  7. Took a hike along the C&O and enjoyed a cigar. The water is up from Pennyfield to Great Falls, but still low at Widewater. I threw a popper at Widewater and only got a couple dinks to hit. I think the big girls are deep right now. Beautiful evening though.
  8. XF is fine, just set the drag correctly. I use a small 6’3” ML/XF spinning combo and it works great with 15lb braid.
  9. Nah you're not the only one, everyone has growing pains. Did this to my bumper after thinking the Trailer Valet XL would hold a 3,000lb rig at a 8 degree incline. Nope.
  10. So why bother trying to understand what he does with his time? It's like giving someone unsolicited advice about how they should spend their money (that drives me bonkers).
  11. Because sometimes it's easier and more effective to demonstrate things on video, and he can monetize and control his content.
  12. What angle do you think is safe to turn with it? Just curious because that is the one thing I read is that you basically will damage your bumper if you "jack knife" it.
  13. Put yourself in his shoes, and you’ll probably realize how they big are. I have 2 tweens, a mortgage, a boat, an aging father, needy in-laws…I could go on and I’m tired from day to day life. James does what he can and that’s all we can expect from him. You don’t see other Pros doing anything similar (that I know of) because real life is time consuming and he goes out of his way for this board. Be reasonable, he’s a good man.
  14. I think you gotta focus on one of those bodies of water. Ponds are usually featureless bowls. Lakes are usually lined with tree cover and even downed trees (laydown) and sometimes rock features. Reservoirs are usually deep clear man made flooded valleys and are the toughest to fish without a boat and electronics (my opinion). I would start with the pond and simply use a senko. Try and feel for variations in the bottom such as a submerged log of rock. Or looks for a feeder creek with the freshest or cooler water.
  15. How deep are you typically when you’re dragged? If shallow, a tomato vine stick will work, or like above use a drift sock in deeper water.
  16. I think most Steez’s have aluminum gears, and if you’re frogging brass gears may better suit you. There may be some Steez models that have brass gears or at minimum you can probably buy some to fit.
  17. Losing the red usually means you're catching, and that's a good thing. Keep using them and resharpening them.
  18. After watching countless videos where people are saying "they're stacked!", I finally get to say it as well. Found a spot where they were stacked! Ebb tide at Mattawoman and I got about 11 bass and a snakehead from this one spot. Threw the popper towards the spatterdock on the right, couple of pops and let the tide take it across the opening and it would get whacked.
  19. If I see people chitchatting at the boat ramp, I remind them it's a BOAT ramp and not a happy hour social ramp.
  20. For me I shopped around and one gave me a bigger discount for boating experience.
  21. Also a factor typically not considered is the price of insurance for a new boater. My $3,000 boat cost me about $120/year in insurance with lots of coverage as a new boater. My updated insurance with a much more expensive boat, and 4 years of boating experience is about $230/year. If I had to get insurance as a new boater with a new boat, I think it'd be well over $500/year.
  22. Took my dad out to Mattawoman Saturday morning, high tide at 9:30AM and lines were in at 7:30AM. We hit the first set of pads on the right and I usually have success there with an incoming tide. I was throwing a toad all morning with a slight breeze and overcast skies, it just seemed right. But they were either not there, or not biting. I only caught 1 LMB there near the outter set of pads. We stayed there with no bites until 9AM and I decided to make a move, we went to the pads across from the beach and hit the back edge where the grass meets the pads and there are a lot of old wood stumps. Nothing hit here either but the water was gin clear. In both sets of pads, there were boats and kayakers near us, so I decided to push way back up the creek. I went to the back pads and the water was rushing out now with the tide change. We caught about a dozen LMB, all cookie cutter 18" and 3lbs, and 2 snakeheads and probably missed a half dozen other LMB/snakehead bites all in about a 2 hour window. On the way out I messed around with a chatterbait at Horseman's Creek because the water was rushing out and there was a seam where the muddy water met clean water and created an eddy. Got one to hit and then called it a day.
  23. Anyone have a recommendation for a guide up here? I’m near Lake Wallenpaupak but I think I’d prefer - float trip on the upper Delaware for trout, river smallies or even some musky. Found one guide at Delaware Gap but it looks like his service is suspended for the time being.
  24. Trick Step and Boatefx are the two I was considering for my Lund.
