Which Daiwa for chatterbaits?
Are you deadset on Daiwa? I have both Daiwas and Shimanos, and I use a Curado 150 MGL on my bladed jig rod. It casts a mile with little effort.

How do you fix your corn on the cobb?
Grilled whole in the husk. Pull or trim the hair on the open end, soak in cold water for about 15 mins then grill for about 20 mins direct medium, turning every 5 mins or so.

do you get Sea-Sick?
Yes, but even looking at my phone while someone is driving makes me motion sick. BUT if I’m driving the boat I don’t get motion sickness.

Maryland's Who's who!
Nah, it was on a popper with 12lb mono, but he wasn't close to the line when I hooked him.

The official "Who's drinking tonight?" thread
Larceny Barrel Proof tonight while watching some youtube fishing videos. This is Heaven Hill's wheated mashbill, and this batch tastes more like candied peanuts to me.

New Opportunities
Not really a SoMD specific club, but they do tournaments all over the DMV with co-angler spots, run by @Logan S: https://www.fishonbassanglers.com SoMD has lots of fantastic access to water IMO, Pax River, Wicomico, various parts of the Potomac...just look on Google Maps. Buy a cheap/used kayak that is light enough to strap to your car roof top and get out to skinny water.

Maryland's Who's who!
Made it to Mattawoman yesterday at 8AM with my dad. High tide was 10AM, so I wanted to see if I could push back into some pads but there was no chance for that since the spatterdock is totally choked with hydrilla. The weather was perfect with low cloud cover, and a slight breeze. We threw toads, paddletails, trick worms, and craws into the pads where there were pools but nothing hit all morning. But when the water started rushing out around 1PM, the creek totally changed. There was a lot more activity and fish popping. I threw a popper and spook and landed 8 bass, most of which were less than 10" but 2 good ones close to 3lbs. I also had a nice multi-species day, a feisty yellow perch, sunnie, and my first pickerel out of the Potomac. My popper spooked a big snakehead, as soon as the lure hit the water the snakehead torpedoed out of hydrilla to deeper water. Other than that, I saw no more SH activity. We pulled out of the water at 3PM when the wind picked up and we saw storm clouds in the distance, my app said rain was starting in 28 mins. As we were taking the boat out, a jacklighter boat was putting in....guess they were going to get a head start that night on the bowfishing.

Retirement.
I'm 46 and think about retiring pretty often! I actually enjoy my job, but I enjoy golfing, fishing, and boating even more. I'm targeting 55 to retire.

Maryland's Who's who!
They're in Big Slackwater above Dam 4? I would go for them in low light conditions with poppers and chatterbaits.

Maryland's Who's who!
I've always fished from the bank there after scouting the two boat launches. I can only imagine it's a total cluster because it's basically a one way road in and out of the Greenbridge and Rec Area launches. Is there an unwritten rule about right of way? Who backs up, the person enter or leaving? Or have you just gotten lucky and never had to deal with an oncoming vehicle.

Shimano Curado DC to heavy?
Sell it and get the Curado 150 MGL.

Poison Adrena
I have the 7'3 MH and use it primarily for chatterbaits in grass. If you're used to a MH/F or XF for T-rigs, you may need to get adjusted to the hookset, it has a mod/fast regular action for a 1/2oz (total weight) lure. It just depends on how fast you want that tip to react. For T-rigs, I usually fish them in open water, and use a 7'5 MH/F and (Orochi G1 EMTF) and have no problems setting the hook, even in deeper water (15-20ft), and that's what I'm comfortable with.

Maryland's Who's who!
It’s for when I harvest a snakehead, I prefer a couple whacks to the head instead of bleeding them out in the live well. It’s not as big as it looks, maybe 20”.

Maryland's Who's who!
Hit up Mattawoman yesterday afternoon. I was going to be in the area feeding/watering my sister's rabbits so I figured I'd hit the creek. Blue bird skies, wind gusts around 20mph, incoming tide....I thought it was going to be miserable so I packed 2 cigars, and some whiskey and figured it would basically just be a nice cruise in the scenery. Yep, got there and the conditions were less than ideal, bottom right was after launching, and bottom left picture is on the way back in. Eventually I found some creek bends with gin clear and still water, so I broke out the popper and they started to hit it. Action wasn't hot and heavy, but it was consistent in blue bird skies, I'll take it. Lost one big girl, guessing 4lbs at the boat. I only had 1 treble in her and it snapped as I was reaching down. Rico stock treble hooks really suck ass for such an expensive bait. Winds pretty much died down at golden hour, and I hit a stretch way back in the creek with wood stumps. I figured I would kill here but they just weren't biting. Then I saw a push about 20 yards away and casted there. Second pop and this snakehead smashed the Rico. Got all 5 trebles in it and harvested it for the 4th for a cookout. The cheapo Amazon scale said 6lbs...but it had to be more than that. Polished off my last cigar on the way back in, and turned into a pleasantly surprising day.

Costs (NO POLITICS)
Most states have a "homestead" exemption where the value of your home is limited in value increase, are you registered for that? That sucks for the storm damage recovery....write your congressman/governor...ask them to pass a bill to limit how much they can pass onto the consumer.

Costs (NO POLITICS)
The ARM makes sense. The Fed Rate went up .75% a couple weeks ago to combat inflation, therefore your ARM went up. But I would look into the escrow increase. Typically escrowed amounts relate to home insurance and real estate taxes. Did your home insurance renewal go up? Real estate taxes may have gone up, but you usually get a notice from your local/state jurisdiction before that happens. Your $160 bill should show you KW/h used/rate and you can compare to your $240 bill. What went up, the rate or the usage? Fuel....yeah, the world is sharing the pain for war. As for groceries, most things have gone up.....but I have found some things coming down. Costco pork ribs have come down $1/lb here! Gonna make some ribs for the 4th! I guess, the only thing I can hope for is that the dynamics of a free market economy start to take hold and our wallets will dictate the prices sooner rather than later.

Frustration on the Range. Golf.
I usually go at night when it dies down and bring a small dram and hit off the grass to avoid that nonsense. I can deal with the noise, I put on AirPods and music when I hit, but when people have their relatives or something and they’re just sitting there for social hour and moving around during your swing, that drives me nuts. I simply just start banging the divider during the offenders backswing until they ask me to stop and the I ask them to reciprocate.

My Curado DC has a mind of its own.
Works for me and I can chuck a spinnerbait pretty far into the wind that way. If you're not happy with it, send it back or sell it I guess. I prefer thumbing most of the time myself.

My Curado DC has a mind of its own.
Tighten the tension knob a lot, so that if you hang the lure off the rod it doesn’t drop when you engage the thumb bar.

Carbon Fiber Handle 100mm+ for Shimano 7x4mm
That's actually one of the first I looked at, but they've been sold out of that one for a while. Hence, looking for alternatives.
