  1. Koval has an interesting flavor, 51% corn and 49% millet. Very unique. Prost!
  2. I ordered stuff on 11/28, and it shipped 12/1 from TW.
  3. I find this time of year tough for bass unless you find structure and fish slow. Or, you go to Four Mile Run which has a warm water discharge, there are countless YT fishing videos of people fishing there. You can launch at the Washington Sailing Marina for $20 (kinda pricey) or if you have a peddle yak, Gravelly Point is free.
  4. Mezcal (and therefore Tequila as a subset) is the #1 fastest growing spirit/liquor in the US. One reason why it's hard to find some of the really good brands.
  5. I use a 6'6 Berkley Big Game 1pc Heavy casting rod. I got it for $22 when Amazon had it in stock. https://www.amazon.com/Berkley-Big-Game-Casting-Fishing/dp/B00NOSQH98?th=1 But it's used as a dedicated Deeper rod only....since I don't catfish (purposely at least). The Deeper is pretty heavy, so you want a fiberglass rod that has a lot of tip for a lob cast. A spinning rod is probably more practical than a baitcaster in case of a backlash, but I've never had a problem with a nice easy lob cast and Tatula SV TW, 50lb cheap generic braid. Forget the long rods and trying to chuck it really far, if you cast the Deeper too far, you'll lose connection and you have to reel it it to re-establish anyways.
  6. $268 before taxes shipped from Amazon JP - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09LQYPVDT?smid=A3GZEOQINOCL0Y&ref_=chk_typ_imgToDp&th=1
  7. Kirkland brand will be pretty decent for the money, if you have access to a Costco with wine.
  8. I've had shingles twice, it's debilitating and excruciating. Since it's in the nerves, it's hard to pinpoint where the pain is, it's just there. Coming across this thread, I've been putting off getting the vaccine, but I think I'll do it before year-end.
  9. Ah, the recreational kayakers at the boat launch are the best.....love it when they decide to pump the air into the inflatable at the dock, or when they decide it's social hour at the dock, instead of loading up so the 4-5 boats waiting in the water can take out. I've bought a seasonal pass the last couple years....and I never get close to the 15 or so trips to Little Seneca Lake to break even. I'll probably just pay the per day fee next year.
  10. They've been reported there for 5 years or so. That lake is so pressured, especially with kayak fishers to get back in the thick stuff, that hopefully they will be kept in check. A lot like the Potomac, I catch way more good size bass than snakeheads in Little Seneca Lake.
  11. Nicely done. Do they bite on the hot side during the winter? I've never fished there LKA, but I'm thinking of renting a house there in Jan or Feb.
  12. Hit Little Seneca Lake on Friday from 10AM-2PM, I figured it might be the last 75 degree this year so I had to get out. Got 2 LMB, biggest at 2.5lb and a small snakehead (my first in here) in the Little Seneca Creek arm on a chatterbait. There was still a lot of dying grass back toward the rock wall. I tried a weedless fluke and worm but nothing was hitting in there. They seem to be transitioning to 6-10 feet of water, away from shallow grass I think.
  13. Love my diesel....19mpg towing!
  14. Give Sagamore Rye Double Oaked a try too. I find WDO a little too tannic, and light for my own personal tastes. But the Sagamore Rye DO spices hold up with a really good balance of the barrel oak.
  15. I went with the MK Ultrex and Humminbird Helix combo when I got my boat a couple years ago. Most newer trolling motors will have "spot lock" (which is a must have IMO), but the Ultrex took it up one notch in combination with the Helixs', such as iTracks (recording a trolling route and using the Ultrex to follow that same track later), Spot Lock Jog (moving from one spot lock location N, W, S, E in 5ft increments), and following a pre-defined map contour (similar to iTracks). The other brands may have those features now too. The Garmin Force and Lowrance Ghost are brushless motors, so they may run a bit longer and are more efficient than the Ultrex, so that's one consideration.
  16. I usually go down to Sanibel in Jan or Apr...but I don't think that area is going to be feasible for 2023...maybe 2024. Hopefully your Naples area is back up and running by then.
  17. I don't fish river smallies, but tidal largies, so maybe this info isn't applicable to you. I use the smaller Rico on blue bird sky days in spots with good tidal flow. The smaller Rico makes a lot less noise when hitting the water and I think spooks less fish that are tight to cover. The Rio Rico makes more noise when hitting the water, so I tend to use that on more overcast days or choppier water where I think it won't spook fish, and maybe need to draw them more. If I had to choose between the two, the smaller Rico is more effective for me.
  18. I don't watch much Walleye tournament fishing, is it normal to let entrants weigh in dead fish?
  19. Spring - IPAs, Mint Juleps, Mules Summer - Pilsners, light lagers, mojitos, margaritas Fall - brown ales, darker lagers, Manhattans Winter - peated scotch, stouts Year round - bourbon, ryes, american whiskey
  20. Whiskey.....I like the taste of them, and I like to try variety but it takes me a few weeks to finish off a bottle. So they just accumulate over time, but I share a lot of it with friends/neighbors so I keep buying more!
  21. There was a MLF event on the Potomac last year where I ran into a pro in the little creek I like to fish. I asked him how he was doing, told him I was fishing pads and just got a 5lber and told him I'd move if he saw me at a spot he wanted to fish, without realizing what I had done. He immediately told me he was not allowed to get tips from anglers, but thanked me for offering to move off any spot he wanted. That was the last I saw of him at that creek, so he definitely played by the rules.
  22. We put in around 7:15A, and of course had to putter around at 6mph looking for a spot to fish and get away from the legion of yak'ers. Most of the fish I caught there since the hydrilla has come up thick, has been the outgoing tide, especially the last 2 hours with topwater along the grass edges. I bought myself an E-bike.....no rough miles for me.
  23. Went out on Labor Day morning to Slavin's with my youngest son, it was his 10th B-day and he primarily wanted to just zip up and down the main river. We started at about 8AM on the outgoing tide with perfect overcast conditions and very slight wind. I found a pond along the creek that had a lot of activity in it, lots of gulls gliding around and I could see the wakes of lots of fish moving around to dodge the gulls overhead. I proceeded to spotlock in there and threw poppers and walking baits and pulled out 7 LMB (3 good ones over 3lbs), a 23" striper, one 28" snakehead, and several small white perch. Not sure what was going on, other than there was a lot of moving water next to the pond, so maybe the perch were cruising near the eddy's made by the hydrilla patches, followed by the big predator fish. Once the tide switched around 10AM, it all shut down, and then we hit the main river and went up and down on plane for an hour.
  24. AGS guides are so rigid, they either don't flex enough on the blank and they get loose in guide wrap, or they snap where the O-ring meets the foot. It's a side effect of catching a lot of big fish on the AGS rods though...which I guess isn't a bad thing. I've had 2 AGS guides repaired/replaced in 3 years on two separate rods.
  25. Idea for a deep 3700 that is sitting empty.
