Bourbon (Whiskey) For Beginners?
1. Yes, your palate will acclimate to the ethanol/alcohol over time. 2. Some bottles yes. Some bottles need time to open up. Some pours also need air to open up. 3. Take a small sip, and wash it over your gums first, and not the tongue first. Then the next small sip, let it sit on your tongue next. Now, take a bigger sip and try to focus on at least one note. 4. My low proof drinkers are Michter's American whiskey (83.4prf), Old Forester Statesman (95prf), Tincup 14yr (84prf). They pack a lot of flavor, with a bit less burn. Give those a try.

Curado BFS XG first fishing session
I love the clicking drag. If you want to go ever lighter lures, get the Roro spool for it.

Hawaii
Maybe you should live up in the big island mountains! We went to volcano national park…..Huge difference in climate…50s, dry, and wind gusts steady at 20-30mph.

Hawaii
Which island? I’m leaving big island today after two weeks. I enjoyed it for the most part. But not looking forward to the flight home.

Some Medical Policies are Dumb
Yes, the medical referral system is an f'ing boondoggle, but you're a great dad.

Ultrex heavy vibrations
Replace the shear pin, even if it looks pretty straight, a slight bend can create a blade wobble. They are cheap off Amazon/Ebay.

Grass Ninja Blade vs Razor Blade
I have 2x and used the tape too. 2 years in, fishing heavy heavy hydrilla and they haven't budged.

Overrated whiskey...
Yeah, and they were older, so less peanut funk. 2016-2018 were really good.

Overrated whiskey...
Booker's. $100 for a cask strength 6 year bourbon that tastes like peanut shells is beyond me.

GLX 844c MBR
My 844 doesn't make any noise like that, but it does sound like they sent you the same rod back. Good plan, good luck with the next one, and don't be afraid to really lean into the hookset on the 844, it has a beefy backbone but you gotta get to it.

Trolling Battery
If it's a deep cycle lead battery, it may not have the appropriate cranking amps to pass their test. What symptoms are you having that made you take it in to AutoZone? If it's not holding a charge, they should have put it on a load tester to see if the voltage would drop significantly from like 12.8v to 12.1v or lower.

fastest boat you've ever seen
All I think of is that it cost them $2,000 to go those 20 miles.

I got one a few weeks ago, and it's really good. I did a side by side blind with some friends, and 4 of us were split 50/50 between this release, and the 2020 special release. If you can get it for SRP (~$75) it's a great bottle. There's nothing that stands out about it IMO. I prefer MM46, or even MMCS over it.

Road trip prep
Are you going by yourself? Also, it's good that you did all of that preventative maintenance, but take it out for a 30 minute trip and see if it all panned out, such as checking the trailer bearings, running your engine on muff ears a few days before you go. Sounds like a fun trip though!

Augustiner Edelstoff, my favorite beer. My local store finally restocked it. Went to the brewhaus in Munich in my mid-20's and have some great memories of it.

Mt. Pocono vacation - Mid August - Decent spots?
I fished Lake Wallenpaupack a couple years ago when staying up there. It's a good lake for smallies, we got them on shallow cranks around docks, topwater along grass next to deep edges, and paddletails in hydrilla flats. It's a popular lake for boats on weekends, so go early during the week and you should do well.

I wish they would bring back their Tumbler autumn ale too. I really miss that one.
