  1. Brother, that is some great news! Thank you for the update.
  2. I agree with the quote. I'm very much a Henry David Thoreau, "Many men fish all their lives without realizing that it's not the fish they are after." kind of guy. I much prefer catching vs not catching, but I love just being on the water, chasing the bass.
  3. No, BPS hasn't done away with the master catalog. They send them out a little later now. I got mine last year in February I think. I used to be a BPS employee and still have a ton of friends there. They keep me pretty well up to date.
  4. What @Mobasser said. I'm 63 and dragging my feet like Fred Flintstone ever day to slow things down!
  5. I haven't tried on a Mustang yet, so I really can't answer your question directly. I wear a 2X shirt and my Onyx 24 fits with a ton of room left for bigger guys. I'd be willing to bet that Mustang is the same way.
  6. I still have several Rouges in my jerkbait box along with MB, Yo Zuri, Strike King, etc. Like others, I rarely throw them anymore. I use spinning tackle with all of the jerkbaits that I own. Medium action 7' rod, 3000 size reel spooled with 10 lb mono.
  7. I've worn glasses since I was 14, I'm 63 now. I'm used to them, but don't like it. Tired contact lenses, but due to astigmatism in one eye they don't work well. I thought about lasik surgery years ago but since I need bifocals they said that it wouldn't work. They could "fix" the nearsightedness but not the farsightedness, but not both. I wonder if anything has changed? Need to check into it.
  8. My son's in the Coast Guard and highly recommended Mustang. So does @ajay (also a USCG Vet) and @MN Fisher, as you can see. My mother in-law got me an Onyx A/M 24 Clearview for Christmas. They are highly rated, so I'm very comfortable using it. Plus, if my friend @MN Fisher recommends them as a budget option, I'm good. All that said, my plan is to save up a little and order a Mustang and use the Onyx for anyone that goes out with me
  9. Yes, I always start the season with two brakes on, four off and the side knob on zero. After a trip or so I release the brakes and loosen the tension knob some.
  10. Well, that was the era when you played the game, hurt or not. I'm pretty sure that Bart Starr broke his nose once playing the Vikings or possibly the Bears. He sat out a series to stop the bleeding and then returned to the game. Broken finger, no problem. Just "buddy tape" it to the next finger and go back in. Not saying it's right, not saying that it's wrong. Just how it was back then. It sure is, probably what is saving this young man's life to this point. I also think about the concussion protocol's that are in place now.
  11. Prayers for Demar Hamlin to make a full recovery. It's happened before. Do any of you remember when Chuck Hughes of the Detroit Lions had a heart attack and died on the field? It was back in the 70's in a game against the Chicago Bears. I was eleven or twelve at the time.
  12. Booyah buzz bait for me. My biggest was a four pound large mouth.
  13. When I still owned bass boats, I always had a good sized net onboard. I still have the big net, but now that I'm fishing from a 16' jon to bass boat conversion there's nowhere to keep it. My wife got me a collapsible net for Christmas that will stow in a compartment. I always netted anything over 1.5 - 2.0 lbs.
  14. Dude, I hate it when that happens!
  15. I went ahead and ordered them. I'll post some sort of review once I've worn them a while.
  16. I have around eight hoodies, all pull overs. Funny thing is, I don't believe that I've ever used the hoods. Two of them are really thick for colder weather. The rest are thinner for cool mornings and weather.
  17. Does anyone have any experience with these shoes? I've read that they are good shoes and Bass Blaster reports that they are great for those of us with bad backs. I have arthritis in my lower spine, hips and knees. I'm always looks for good, supportive footwear.
  18. Happy New Year everyone!!!
  19. Start walking a little more for exercise. As far as fishing goes, maybe go a little more often but mainly just have fun. I did get an Onyx 24 a/m clear view for Christmas so I plan on wearing it while on the water.
  20. You're welcome. Go get 'em for me.
  21. Interestingly enough, you're wrong. B.A.S.S. Opens are full, with over 200 angler's fishing all nine events. That number includes the mlf/bpt angler's jumping ship in hopes of returning to the B.A.S.S. Elite tour. They have a waiting list of angler's wanting to fish the Opens. That's not shooting one's self in the foot by a long shot. Like I said in my initial post concerning this, "If you can't fish the nine Opens in hopes of qualifying for the Elites, you certainly were not ready to fish the Elites." By the way, saving $13k, is saving $13k. Those savings could go towards travel or anything thing else
  22. I'm doing great today, thanks for asking. Raining with a little thunder and lightning here in southern Arkansas. I'm reading a book on cabin building and checking BR.
  23. Welcome to the club!
