  1. Good work Daubs. It was very nice of you to help that guy.
  2. I used ABU oil for many years. It always worked well. Currently using the Lew's oil made by Lucas Products. I like it also.
  3. Catt, this is the one. I've had mine for several years, a TN shad color. Often has outfitted Rebel Pop R and others.
  4. Good post. It's easy to quickly judge another person, especially if we think he's being rude while we're fishing.
  5. My dad and grandpa were big believers in leaving the area cleaner than you found it after every fishing or camping trip. The popular term these days is " leave no trace", meaning, leave the area looking like no one was ever there. When my grandson first started fishing with me, we took a couple of trash bags with us. We made it a point to make a quick sweep of the lot and pick up some trash, throwing it in the dumpster. Ive seen trash of every type, and there's too much of it to list here. It aggravating to clean up after other guys. They should be cleaning up after themselves. But,If your a serious fisherman, it only makes sense to want your area to be cleaned up. You'll want your lake looking good, not looking like a trash dump. What people don't realize is that trash company's are working against time. They're running a route, and don't have time to pick up loose trash laying around. This trash will blow around, and some will eventually end up in the lake. Look at it like this: if every member of BR would have a " leave no trace" attitude, imagine how much better our lakes would look. Would you rather cast your lure into clean water, or, onto a pile of floating trash? It takes only minutes to clean up after your fishing trip. At some point down the road, someone will appreciate you doing this. I've wondered how the lakes will look for my grandkids, after I'm long gone. I hope they can enjoy fishing in a clean, nice looking area. Leave no trace starts with all of us, and should start now.
  6. You could also check out a Lew's Speed Spin. Several models to pick from, with an AR switch.
  7. Dont use any leaders on anything.
  8. I've always liked full cork grips on all my rods. They're getting harder to find now.
  9. Nice outfit for a good price Mike. Good luck with it.
  10. If you're in a boat, you can have a clear view of a shoreline. Points, cuts, cover, everything. On some lakes, you can't even see these things looking down the bank if your standing there. Bank fishing is harder.
  11. Overall good advice, but may not work well on all lakes. Ive bank fished a good amount on one smaller lake near home. Half this lake is easy to walk banks and cast, half is hard to find a spot, due to trees, tall grass etc. Sometimes have to cast sidearm or pitch. These can be some of the better areas because other guys don't want to fish here. Be stealthy, and watch for snakes.
  12. If I fish this weekend, it will be very early in the morning( sunup) for an hour or two. I'll go home before the party crowd shows up.
  13. As a kid, I liked drag racing and street racing. Now I do the speed limit, and get left in the dust on the highways. I wish people would drive safer.
  14. Catt, your family loves you, and is looking out for you.
  15. Thank you to all for your service.
  16. I try to fish plastic baits as long as they last. Once they won't hold a hook, I pitch them out, and put on a new one. In the whole scope of things, bags of soft plastics are some of the cheaper things in bass fishing, compared to hard baits. ,
  17. The two main smaller lakes I fish are close to home. I don't think it will affect me very much. One of the lakes has some good bank fishing spots also, and I enjoy bank fishing too.
  18. No. I think we're too far north here.
  19. Like most rainy springs, I've been seeing a lot of snakes around the lake lately. Heavy spring rains often force the snakes out of hiding, and I'll see more of them at this time. In my area( north central Mo), we have only two venomous snakes. Copperheads and Timber rattlesnakes. Timber rattle snakes are rare. I've only seen one in my 64 years. My brother and I were loading hay bales on a truck in a hay field. Turning over a bale, a small 12" rattlesnake was curled up under it. We watched him slither across the pasture, and I've never seen another one. Whenever I see any snake, I always leave them alone, and I've never been bitten by any. What snakes are in your area, and are any of them venomous or dangerous?
  20. Take care. Quarantine and drink lots of water. Get better soon.
  21. How do you put a hook in this? And, what is it supposed to look like? They say fish strike sometimes from curiosity? I'm not sure about these...
  22. Practice is the best way to learn this. The more you fish, the better you become.
  23. Fishing slower, and trying for a big fish. It's been hard so far.
  24. Thanks for sharing this. Brings back memories for me also. As a kid, I fished much the same as these boys. I was thrilled to catch anything.
  25. I like 3/8 the best, but use others also.
